Ohio Man Arrested After Leading Police on a High Speed Chase Spanning Multiple Counties

Sometimes it doesn’t pay to be a show-off, or for the police to know you.

Just ask the 21-year-old driver of this black C6 Corvette.

Vu Jett is facing multiple charges after leading a convoy of officers from several law enforcement agencies on a high-speed chase in his sports car Monday night.

He first attracted the attention of Commercial Point Police in Ohio as he sped through the town limits. Soon, as he bolted at speeds of more than 100 mph, officers from the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol joined the pursuit that eventually spanned several county and township roads.

Officers finally decided to call off the chase for safety reasons, knowing that they could likely track down the driver at his Commercial Point residence. They even talked to his mom, who reached her son via telephone and urged the suspect to stop, especially since his brother was also in the Corvette.

Jett refueled his Corvette at SR-665 and I-71 before rolling through the Timber Lake subdivision and then back onto SR-665, with deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department joining the pursuit now.

A second spike strip deployment directed into place by a helicopter finally was able to force the Corvette to a stop near Stahl Road in Orient as Jett pulled over after traveling briefly with two flat tires. A photo from the scene shows the Corvette’s front splitter is broken in the middle.

Officers from Franklin County Sheriff, Pickaway County Sheriff, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and Commercial Point Police then moved in to apprehend the suspect, who faces three counts of Failure to Comply and one count of speeding.
