When it comes to capturing pre-production Corvettes being driven in the wild, most of the time we seem them in the camouflage wraps that Chevrolet uses. Luckily, it’s one of the first things to shed once the car has been revealed, showing off the factory colors underneath like we see in this group photo from an unknown location.

Photos of this group of Corvette ZR1s was shared to the C8 Corvette Owners (and Friends) Facebook Page by Isaac Lopez and the pics show the usual combination of Coupes and Convertibles in the group, some with high wings and some with the low rear spoilers. A couple different photos show the drivers out of their cars with the laptops up on the roof. Could they be making some last changes to the ZR1 based on what they are experiencing on the road trip?

We love to see how the individual Corvettes are outfitted and it will be interesting to see how customers do it as well. We can count at least three ZR1 Coupes with the Split Rear Window design. Both the Competition Yellow and Arctic White Coupes have the body-color carbon fiber treatment on the rear hatches while the Riptide Blue ZR1 has the visible Carbon Fiber down the middle of the engine hatch.

The day after these photos were taken, the Corvette Engineers were spied again at a Cheddar’s restaurant off I-75 in London, Kentucky. Another guy named Isaac Adams saw the cars all backed into their spots in front of the restaurant and snapped the following pic to share with the same Facebook Group.

Isaac said in his post that it’s “Not everyday you get to see 8 new ZR1’s 😍 I felt like a shrimp pulling up to look at them in my ’25 Z51

Despite the set-back over the availability of the large wings, we are still closing in on the start of regular production for the ZR1s. Originally we were hearing that the first TPWs were schedule for late April, but after Chevy pulled its first allocations back to 2000 status, it remains to be seen whether or not the King of the Hill will be scheduled for production again in late April or if it will be pushed back to start in May.

Have you ever encountered such a group before? Tell us about it in the comments below!

  1. The most striking thing about this sighting would be the existence of the ZTK wing on an HTC. To my knowledge, there haven’t previously been any pictures of HTC with the ZTK wing. That’s intriguing to me, as I was left with the impression that this would only be possible (and the ZTK package as a whole) on the coupe.

  2. Sometime way back in the mid 90’s I saw a group of preproduction black and white camouflaged C5 Corvettes on I-40/85 in NC. Me and a buddy that was riding with me in my 95 Corvette freaked out. That was the only time I’ve ever encountered a group of Corvettes on a test run out in the wild like that.

  3. These are beautiful cars, and to see this many together is great! I’ve always associated turbo-charging with an increase in engine compartment heat and greater stress on components. Any thoughts on the longevity of these packages? I guess for those who can afford these, maintenance costs are not a problem. Also, any thoughts on bringing these into IMSA/WEC competition. It has always seemed to me that the Z06 cars had to be de-tuned for BOP purposes. I’d like to hear anybody’s thoughts/opinions on this.

  4. I work at a gm winter test site and I have seen a “ZR-1” with the E-Ray set up in in the front trunk. So there will be an all wheel drive super Vette.
