Corvettes for Sale: 1974 Corvette Coupe with a 454 V8 Offered on Craigslist

Back in the mid-1970s, if you wanted a new high-performance Corvette, you had to settle for a 454 V8 that cranked out 270 horsepower.

One such example from 1974 that’s recently been restored – except for one area – is currently for sale on craigslist in Tucker, Georgia, close to Atlanta, with the asking price just reduced to $19,999.

“IF YOU WANT A NICE ONE, THIS IS IT!!!” the seller screams in his listing.

When a car is more than 50 years old, it’s sometimes hard to find out much about its history. No such problem with this one, which comes with the original bill of sale, window sticker, and a folder full of a half-century of records, including the most recent receipt for $4,900 worth of work.

According to the owner, the car has new white paint, chrome Rally rims, tires, calipers, brakes, lines, and master cylinder, stabilizers front and rear, and radiator, along with a recent alignment. The 454 engine, by the way, was a $250 option back in the day.

About the only negative you can find, at least from the photos with the listing, is the red interior, which appears to be original. After exerting so much effort on the exterior and underneath the hood, it’s a shame that the interior looks so tired.

Still, a 454 Corvette is never anything to ignore. Do you think so?

  1. This isn’t a bad looking car, but by not mentioning that it’s an automatic kind of makes me think that the seller is hoping to get someone looking at it and try to sweet talk them into buying it. I have a saying: if a Corvette was meant to have an automatic they would called them a Chevette.

  2. Ignition shielding and correct shielded plug wires missing too. Interior would cost a bunch to retstore.

That’s a pretty odd saying considering that the first ever, Corvette was an automatic !
