With all the negative news these past few days about the departure of Corvette legends Harlan Charles and Kirk Bennion, it was nice to hear the world’s most popular podcaster gushing about the new Corvette ZR1 on Episode #2266.

That’s right, Joe Rogan of The Joe Rogan Experience just called the 2025 ZR1 the “greatest American car ever, by a long shot” – which is saying a lot since the avid car collector/enthusiast can afford to buy any car he wants and is said to already have a garage full of 15 to 20 collectible cars.

Corvettes are the only cars that looked good in the ’70s,” Rogan tells his guest Brian Simpson around the 35:00 mark of the podcast. “All the other American cars turned to dog sh*t. They became boxes. They became fuel-efficient boxes. But Corvettes always had that and then eventually they f***ked that up too. And they made Corvettes like flat and sleek.”

While he may think Corvettes could have gone out of vogue for a while, he has high praise for the latest version of the mid-engine C8.

Opines Rogan:

“This is literally the greatest American car ever produced. Corvette ZR1. It’s got a giant wing on the back of it. It’s literally a race car that you can buy. It has 1064 HP, and this is not even tuned. These things are insanely fast and insanely capable. I think it’s like a 190,000 dollars (actually $174,995, but who’s counting?). Bro, this car is f***king insane. There is carbon fiber wheels. It’s insane, oh man, and it’s beautiful, like look at that thing. It looks like what you would expect from a foreign supercar from like Ferrari or McLaren or something like that. That’s what it looks like.”

And then companies like Hennessey will “make them even faster” with their aftermarket products, Rogan adds. “I don’t know if they’ve got Nürburgring times on them, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the fastest American car ever.”

Perhaps it’s not surprising that Rogan would be so enthusiastic about the new ZR1 since he already owns a silver 1965 Corvette Sting Ray restomod that he bought from RK Motors in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Check out Joe Rogan’s comments at 35:18 but we have it queued just a bit earlier as the discussion first starting on Ford GTs.

  1. No doubt this ZR1 is going to be a great car with tons of power. However, Elon’s model S Plaid will out accelerate it for almost half the price. The Plaid will seat 5 comfortably, never need an oil change or fill up with gas. I would still love to have one!

  2. When a Tesla can out perform a ZR1 on a road track, let me know – I’ll be waiting for your reply. Plus the Tesla has NO style. It looks like every other sedan on the road today.

  3. Joe’s right about 70’s Corvettes looking good for sure but he’s wrong about them being the only good looking American cars in the 70’s. The 1970-1979 Firebird Trans Am’s and the 70’s Camaro Z28’s looked good too. All three could stomp all the other 70’s American cars into the ground and make them eat dog shit!

  4. I try to be respectful here. But this time, I’ll say that Joe Rogan can go choke and die. He is a despicable human who deserves a horrible death. If you like Rogan, then you can choke and die too.

  5. You are correct, the ZR1 will run faster circles. Unfortunately I don’t do that type of racing. I need a car that carries more than two people, carries a lot of groceries, guns and everything else I have to carry. Yes, it’s just another four door sedan but so nice driving around town and highway knowing that any Mustang, Camaro, Corvette or one of those super exotic foreign cars that comes beside you wanting to race will lose! As far as looks, sure the Corvette looks good with the exception of the ridiculous looking rear spoiler.
