Modifying a classic Corvette like this 1994 Corvette ZR-1 might not always be the best choice when it inevitably comes time to sell it.
But we’ll refrain from making a final judgment until we see for sure if someone is willing to open the bidding for this heavily modded Corvette show car at $35,000 or go ahead and maybe even pay the “Buy It Now” price of $45,000 in a current eBay auction.
So far, no one has taken either plunge, and the auction is slated to close Thursday afternoon.
Where do you start describing a car like this?
How about the crazy body kit that added side strakes a la the Ferrari Testarossa, along with adding new front and rear valences and a rear spoiler and deleting the hatchback glass in favor of a flat piece instead?
The mostly gray interior also includes the heavy use of red accents and the addition of a high-powered sound system.
But like all ZR-1s from the fourth generation, this car is more noted for its powerful engine. It’s said to create 530 rear wheel horsepower, up from the stock 405, that uses a Lingenfelter kit to increase displacement to 402 cubic inches, along with ceramic coated pistons and Jeal headers, custom Siamese intake and ported heads, custom ground camshafts, custom chip, 13-lb. aluminum fly wheel, 63.5mm throttle body, 3-inch exhaust system, and Ron Davis radiator.
Other mechanical upgrades include 13.25-inch four-piston Alcon brakes up front, DRM coil over suspension, custom valved Bilstein shocks, polyurethane bushings, 30mm front sway bar, Heim joint sway bar end links, and Heim joint sway bar end links.
The engine build and tune, suspension, and ceramic/powder coatings on the engine and suspension were done by Henderson Performance Technologies, and Richy Collision Houston took care of the bright red paint, which is protected by paint protection film and Xpel on the nose and headlight covers.
The car also has undergone a recent tuneup and dash upgrade by Corvettes of Houston.
It all adds up to a most unique C4 ZR-1. The question is, does it float your boat?

To me it’s not bad looking but I would much rather have the factory rear window instead of the hatch panel. The weird looking ugly three spoke wheels would be replaced with five spoke wheels if it was my car.
No, but somebody had too much time and money to spend on this one. You can find concourse C4 Zs for less.
They made it look like a firebird. Maybe it is a firebird underneath.
