Corvettes for Sale: Corvette Orange 1977 T-Top Coupe with L82 on Craigslist

One of the most popular years ever for the Corvette, at least production wise, was the 1977 Stingray.

The St. Louis factory pumped out 49,213 units that year, the most ever until a whopping 53,807 were gobbled up in ’79.

Now, a beautiful example of a ’77 is being offered with an asking price of $22,000 on Craigslist out of the Albuquerque, New Mexico area.

This one, which was purchased new in Arizona, really stands out in a crowd with its brilliant Corvette Orange paint, one of 4,012 to be so colored that year, and while we’re not told if it’s been repainted sometime over the past 47 years, it looks great regardless.

Especially paired with the Buckskin leather interior that looks like new, with its custom woodgrain console, too.

But what also makes this one stand out in a crowd is its more powerful L82 350/210 horsepower V8 engine that was pretty rare in ’77. Just 6,148 customers chose that powertrain option, which added $495 to the base MSRP of $8,647.65.

Three transmission choices – a standard wide-ratio four-speed manual or optional close-ratio four-speed manual or Turbo-Hydramatic automatic – were available at no extra cost to the buyer but representing the Corvette’s shift to becoming a more luxurious GT boulevard cruiser, this one has the automatic, like 41,230 others in ’77.

This car also has other then-upscale features like power steering, four-wheel power disc brakes, power windows, tilt/telescopic steering column, dual mirrors, Rally wheels inside new BFGoodrich tires, and rear defogger.

Are you ready to boogie on down and relive the groovy days of 1977 in this Corvette?

  1. Nice ride. Craigslist shows no photo of the VIN or Trim Tag, but I can tell you this was an early-built 1977, build date between September 7, 1976 (VIN 02642) and November 15, 1976 (VIN 12607). How do I know? There are three photos that verify those approximate dates and VINs. I talk about it on page 40 of my 1976-1982 Corvette Colors, Codes, and Quantities book.

  2. Man this takes me back to the first Corvette I ever bought when I was just 20 years old. It was a used 77 L82 Corvette Orange with Buckskin leather interior just like this one but with a few more options. I had more fun in that Corvette than any of the seven others I’ve owned since then because I was young and dumb and still single the whole time I owned it. I suspect this great looking car has been repainted. That color didn’t hold up good in the hot humid summer climate where I live so I’m sure it would turn to shit out in the hot sun in Arizona and New Mexico too.
