Corvettes for Sale: Inherited 1976 Corvette with an L82 and 4-Speed Manual

The owner of this 1976 Corvette T-top says he inherited it from his father and has made the “difficult” decision to pass it on to someone who can enjoy it.

He’s also refreshingly honest about the car’s condition, which is something you don’t always find in a Craigslist advertisement.

Based on the photos, this C3 Corvette appears to be a pretty good 15-footer. Get closer, though, and you’ll discover some imperfections that help explain its $11,500 asking price.

The blue paint on the inside of the rear buttresses appears to be wearing through, while chips are scattered around the fiberglass body. The rear spoiler also looks a little wavy, a common affliction on these early rubber-bumper Corvettes.

Still, there’s plenty to like about this one.

For starters, it’s a numbers-matching L82 equipped with a four-speed manual transmission, a relatively uncommon combination that’s considerably more appealing to enthusiasts than the base-engine automatic.

The odometer shows approximately 93,000 miles, and the car features side exhaust along with an Edelbrock carburetor and intake manifold.

According to the seller, the Corvette runs and drives well, although he readily admits it’s nowhere close to show condition.

There are a few other issues worth mentioning, including some dry rot beginning to appear on the front tires, a small tear in the driver’s seat and a seatbelt that needs replacing.

“My Dad was a big man and I guess altered the seatbelt for himself,” the seller explains.

But the biggest issue apparently isn’t mechanical or cosmetic. It’s finding the time to enjoy the car.

“Due to a lack of time to drive and give it the attention it deserves, I have made the difficult decision to pass the torch to someone who can give this car the life and upkeep it deserves,” he writes.
