Corvettes for Sale: 1988 Corvette with Lingenfelter Upgrades

The 1980s were all about excess, and this Corvette from near the end of that era certainly lives up to the standards of the time.

We love it!

This 1988 coupe being offered on Craigslist out of the Glen Cove, New York area has lots of not-for-the-weak-hearted modifications that add to its allure, not the least of which is the Lingenfelter Accel Super Ram intake manifold that features a larger plenum and throttle body and slightly shorter runners than the stock tuned port injection system. It’s no longer available, by the way, but more on that powerplant later.

The first thing you notice about this car is its beautiful and somewhat rare shade of Nassau Blue Metallic paint, accented with tastefully done custom pinstriping. The car also includes a Greenwood-style aftermarket body kit with a raised rear spoiler and roll bar, along with 17-inch chrome alloy wheels.

Based on photos with the listing, this Corvette appears to remain in excellent condition inside and out some 36 years later. Indeed, the seller promises it has always been “meticulously maintained and kept indoors its entire life.”

The odometer reads just 55,000 miles, with 1,500 said to have been added since 2021. The condition of the black leather interior certainly lends credence to the validity of that claim.

Returning to the powertrain, we’re told that besides the Lingenfelter intake, the car also has a 58mm throttle body, Accel ignition system, Dart cylinder heads, nitrous system, and long-tube headers. Previous owners also added a Lingenfelter camshaft, steel crankshaft, and LT1 forged pistons.

Other highlights include a removable tinted glass roof panel (though it’s said to be cracked), AM/FM/Cassette, cruise control, automatic climate control, and what appears in photos to be a working digital dash.

With an asking price of $15,000, this car isn’t priced as cheaply as so many of its brethren these days. But if you love the performance and appearance upgrades that are already in place, that is still likely a number far cheaper than it would cost to duplicate all the work.

“This Corvette is not only fast, but a head-turner with its custom styling,” the seller boasts.

Do you agree with that assessment, or would you return this car to its stock condition instead?
