It’s not often a car on Craigslist includes a “pro and con” section from the owner.
But that’s the case with this 1979 Corvette coupe that’s just seen the price reduced to $18,500 or best offer.
Among the “pros” listed in the ad is the fact that the car’s history is easily traced back to the original owner, who later sold it to the father of the seller.
The car remains “most original,” and its numbers-matching 350 engine has been “expertly and professionally rebuilt” by thevettedoctorinc.com, leaving it running smoothly and “better than when it was new!”
The odometer reads just 35,000 miles after 45 years on the road, and it’s been only 2,000 miles since the engine was rebuilt and the block repainted to its original blue. The car also includes new valve and air filter covers, DeWitt’s radiator, starter, braking system (pads, drums, hoses, fluid), and battery. The Corvette Light Blue paint is rated in “good” condition after being repainted once at some point.
According to the seller, overall the car has been “well maintained” over the years by the two previous owners, and he’s currently driving it daily until he can sell this car and move into a newer Corvette, saying he doesn’t have “the time right now to care for an older one.”
Now for the problems with the car, which the seller claims are all “common” with C3s, including a non-functioning air conditioner. Likewise, the headlights pop up only manually, and the cruise control, radio, power door lock, temperature gauge, clock, and rear window defroster don’t work – conditions which he blames on the fuses.
The seller admits that while “a few minor things” still need to be repaired, he still gets “tons of compliments out on the road – you’ll definitely turn a few heads.”
