[PICS] Corvettes on Woodward Charity Event Kicks Off Dream Cruise Weekend

It’s Dream Cruise week here in the Motor City which means it’s time for the world’s largest single day automotive event – the Woodward Dream Cruise. For Corvette fans it also means the annual Corvettes on Woodward events leading up to the big day.

Organizer Larry Courtney and his wife Verna are celebrating 20 years of Corvette event planning in 2024. For this year’s milestone event, Corvettes on Woodward relocated to the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, MI and provided the kickoff to M1’s Woodward Dream show weekend of festivities.

Each year on the Wednesday before the Dream Cruise, the casual event draws hundreds of Corvette owners and fans from around the country. Everyone comes together to support the Open Hands Food Pantry in Royal Oak, MI. The move to M1 allowed for more space, more Corvettes, and more opportunity to do some good for the neighborhood.

The day kicked off with an American flag made from America’s Sports car. Hundreds of Corvettes were aligned in the form of Old Glory right in front of M1’s new conference center. This is the same location where they gathered 1 Corvette from each model year for their Corvette 70th anniversary celebration last year. Several local media outlets dropped by to cover this cool display of ‘Murica.

Later in the day Corvettes rolled in and slowly parked along both sides of the curvy M1 concourse racetrack. Over the course of the event, Corvettes from all generations come and go. Owners and visitors catch up for some good fashioned bench racing, witty banter, and general revelry. Heck, even Iron Man showed up this year!

In addition to socializing and perusing all the cool Corvettes, attendees also had time to check out the latest offerings from Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, Nowicki Autosport, Vettes for Vets, and NCM Insurance Agency. Corvette sales guru Rick “Corvette” Conti popped in with his trailer in tow generating content for his popular YouTube channel and Corvette Product Manager, Harlan Charles, rolled up in his brand new 2025 Hysteria-colored Z06 convertible.

Finally, just before 7pm, owners headed back to their cars, lined up, and made their way to historic Woodward Avenue to join thousands already out cruising on a perfect Michigan evening.

The big Wednesday gathering precedes traditional visits to the Lingenfelter Collection and nearby Pratt Miller Motorsports.
