It’s August in the Motor City and that means car season is at top speed. While the colossal Woodward Dream Cruise gets all the attention this month, us Corvette folks prepare for the big event by attending the annual Corvettes on Woodward charity events.
Organizer Larry Courtney and his wife Verna are celebrating 20 years of Corvette event planning in 2024. For this year’s milestone event, Corvettes on Woodward is partnering with the M1 Concourse. The traditional Wednesday night gathering of Corvettes will take place in Pontiac, MI for the first time since 2016 and act as the kickoff to M1’s Woodward Dream show weekend of events. You’ll recall that the M1 Concourse hosted the Corvette 70th anniversary display last year as part of their annual Dream Show.
The 2024 Corvettes on Woodward gathering will take place Wednesday, August 14th from noon until 7:30pm. A $20 admission gets you in and proceeds go to the Open Hands Food Pantry once again. The Food Pantry requested cash this year in lieu of actual food donations. This great event traditionally draws several hundred Corvettes. The big news this year is that they now have space for 1,000 or more Corvettes.
So, what does one do with all that real estate? Make an American flag out of Corvettes, of course! Owners of red, white, or blue Corvettes are encouraged to reach out to Larry Courtney via [email protected] to secure they’re spot in this most patriotic display. Flag participants should plan to arrive by 10am.
Corvettes on Woodward will also have a great vendor area your perusal as well. Ken and Kristen Lingenfelter will be showing the latest and greatest bits from Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. Jeff Nowicki from Nowicki Autosport will show off his latest carbon fiber-clad Concept C8. You also see Vettes for Vets, Stanford Chevrolet, and our friends at NCM Insurance Agency. Official Woodward Dream Cruise merchandise as well as Corvette Neon and Clocks will tempt your checkbook as well. Finally, grab a bite to eat at one of the available food trucks.

Friday is the kickoff of M1’s 2-day Woodward Dream show. This year’s featured marque is the Pontiac GTO. See all years of the original muscle car plus hundreds of other hot rods, customs, and more on display throughout the sprawling M1 grounds.
With that 3-day bender of car stuff behind you, get set for the 2024 Woodward Dream Cruise on Saturday August 17th. The world’s largest single-day automotive event officially runs from 9am to 9pm along historic Woodward Avenue between Pontiac and Ferndale, Michigan.
