[SPIED] Corvette ZR1s at a Retirement Party for Tadge

Executive Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter officially retired from GM after a remarkable 47 year career and his colleagues recently got together to wish the now former chief a send-off for the ages. If the C8 ZR1 was Tadge’s “mic-drop” exit, then having seven of Chevy’s latest supercars show up for a retirement party is an 7,448 horsepower salute!

From an undisclosed location, we learned of this get-together from our friends Jeff “Zipity” Duda representing Ciocca Corvette and Lance Miller of Carlisle Events. Outside the establishment were parked seven Corvette ZR1 pre-production prototypes as well as a Torch Red Z06, several E-Rays, and a few other Corvettes.

Each of the cars were backed into their parking spots with the big hood scoops telegraphing the model’s status as the new King of the Hill. In the group, there was a nice representation of both coupes and convertibles, and we counted more than a few ZTK-equipped cars. Lance captured a video of the parking lot showing the ZR1s in multiple colors. We counted no less than five different shades: Arctic White, Competition Yellow, Riptide Blue, Torch Red, and Rapid Blue.

And here is what they sound like when they are leaving. I believe the term is…”sounding good!”

We appreciate Lance giving us a brief glimpse into the celebration of Tadge’s retirement. Tadge and Mary definitely deserve some time away from the Corvette scene, but first there is the upcoming induction into the National Corvette Museum’s Corvette Hall of Fame that will take place at the end of August.

Here’s some additional ZR1 photos from Jeff. Make sure you follow him on YouTube at Zipity’s Garage!

  1. You may as well reveal the location – there is a FB post that the event for Tadge was held at the Lingenfelter Collection.

  2. Congratulations Tadge. I think you gave it all and I just bought a new E-Ray in respect of that!

    Cheers!

  3. GM is too cheap to install chrome badges as std. equipment on it’s most expensive model. Shame! Those plastic badges really degrade the overall look. A silly omission.
