Chevrolet announced the reveal of the C8 Corvette ZR1 back on April 10th, saying the “Corvette ZR1 is coming this Summer!” and then just one week ago a new teaser shares the C8 Corvette ZR1’s reveal date as being July 25th, 2024.

However, nowhere in any of the three teasers or recent communications has Chevrolet let it be known what model year will the C8 Corvette ZR1 be available…until now. Last night, an email sent out by Chevrolet finally reveals the model year with the headline, “Get a glimpse at the Unthinkable 2025 Corvette ZR1.” Here’s a copy of that email.

2025 Corvette ZR1 Email Teaser

While we are happy to finally get the news that we will be seeing the 2025 Corvette ZR1 this summer, we are still getting a weird feeling that this “reveal” will be anything but the kind of reveals we have become accustomed too, with automotive journalists being able to see and experience the car. As the headline suggests, we may only be getting a “glimpse” of the car, meaning that some of the specs are revealed on the car, but other details will likely remain a closely guarded secret until another time.

As many of us were starting to believe the ZR1 would be arriving as 2026 model, it would make sense that Chevy doesn’t want to share the whole car, as it’s been widely rumored that an interior refresh is coming in 2026. But now that we know the ZR1 will be a 2025, that sort of takes that reasoning off the table as too why we won’t get a full reveal of the car on 7.25.24.

In the email from Chevrolet, they also mention “vehicle availability will be announced at a later date,” which we are assuming will be announced sometime after the July 25th event. As the 2025 model year was announced as starting on September 9th, I doubt we’ll see availability for ordering until much later in the model year.

During the NCM Bash, Corvette Executive Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter himself referred to this event as “the reveal of the reveal,” so we’ll have to wait and see what they really give us on July 25th. But we do know now that will be a 2025 Corvette ZR1!

One last point, the email prompts you to “explore The Corvette Line-up” and the link takes us to a great new page at Chevrolet.com where you can see all three current Corvette models as well as sign-up for emails on the ZR1. It’s a pretty cool page so go check it out!

  1. Unfortunately the hanger location in Tustin, CA, the location of the 2020 C8 reveal, burned down. Although there are other hangers in the vicinity. With all the excitement surrounding the new ZR1, let’s hope Chevrolet selects a public venue rather than special invitation only. 7-25-24 is marked on my calendar!!

100% correct. Even if you are on “a list” and have intent to buy–that means nothing. There are people who “got on the list” for ERay’s before they even hit SORP, and will not get a 2024 because GM rolled them off the assembly line about as fast as frozen molasses.

Corvette is like Harley-Davidson. The product itself doesn’t offer much. But you’ll be waiting in lines and competing with all the die-hards to get what you want. GM spends on hype rather than amenities and features that would bring Corvette in line with higher quality competition.
