[VIDEO] One Year Ownership Review of the Corvette Z06

Our friend Justin of the HorsePower Obsessed YouTube Channel has now owned his 2023 Corvette Z06 for about a year and in that time he has put about 6,000 miles on the odometer.

Justin decided to offer up this video showcasing his first of ownership with the car by addressing what he calls “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.” Any time that potential buyers and especially those new to Corvette can hear from an experienced owner about their experience with the new American super car is time well spent in our opinion.

Justin also owns a Corvette ZR1, so to hear him say that the C8 Corvette Z06 is worth every single penny carries some weight. By the way, those pennies do add up with Justin saying his Z06 cost around $160K once taxes and other costs were included.

Justin first starts us of with a walk around of the car and he addresses the wheels, tires, and brakes. Justin’s car is equipped with the carbon ceramic brakes and he talks about the pros and cons of them as well.

Once inside the car, Justin addresses the craftsmanship and materials used in the car. His Competition Sport seats show no wear on the bolsters and the center console and door panels are holding up great as well. We get a “warm start” as the sun is out and the car has already warmed up and then we get to hear the sound of the glorious LT6 doing its thing by revving upwards of 8600 RPM.

As for some of the bad things, these cars are hard to get, and dealers are often charging over MSRP. Justin also calls maintenance an issue as its just such a unique car that many “Corvette Techs” at dealerships simply haven’t worked on them. One issue he has seen is regarding the alignment of the car for the track and he says after calling around to dealers about it, they simply don’t know that the rear wheel casters can be adjusted. Another issue is gas mileage which he says isn’t great, so expect to burn a lot of gas if this is a daily driver. He also recommends getting radiator grills to protect the front radiators as they wide front grille allows all kinds of debris to fall inside, and Rock Guards (from ACS Composite) to prevent rocks from being kicked up.

Justin also says he has been cursed with a rattle noise in his passenger side door panel and it’s been impossible to locate despite taking off the panel or taking it to a dealer.

The final section of the video is all about mods and he says there are so many aftermarket products that are now available. Justin has made some cool ones for his car, so we’ll leave that for the video.

  1. Ok my biggest complaint 160,000 dollars for a car is crazy. If your a multi millionaire not a problem. And even if I had the money I would not spend 100,000 dollars for a car. 50,000 is high enough, and even that’s to high, but if you want a good car. That’s the price.

  2. Finally got to watch this video today that I’ve been wanting to watch. This car really is bad ass murdered out in total black and it sounds bad ass wicked too. I’m totally impressed with the build on this car and all of the owner’s cool mods. I’m confused about the Team Corvette decal under the windshield. How did he possibly install that between the windshield and the dashboard?

  3. Hi Justin. I looked at the windshield and dashboard on my C7 so I saw what you’re saying about easily tucking the vinyl emblem between them. All I can figure is that wide blackout decal along the bottom of the windshield must be somewhat transparent so the red vinyl emblem can show through or I’m so stupid that I’m still missing something here.
