Ramp Up Over? Corvette Assembly Plant Completed 117 New E-Rays Last Week

Is the era of the 2024 Corvette E-Ray production ramp up now over?

You might think so given that 117 new E-Rays were listed as completed last week on Roger Kiel’s Unofficial Production Tracker. That brings the total number of new performance hybrid Corvettes up to 557 for the model year.

Last week we wrote about a weird anomaly in E-Ray production. After six days of producing just two E-Rays two weeks ago, Roger posted that 66 were completed last Monday June 10th. With that many hitting the chart, we speculated that perhaps there was a parts issue causing the E-Rays to be “built-shy” as they wait for the parts to complete them. No E-Rays were listed as completed on Tuesday, June 11th, but we did see some solid gains for the rest of the week with totals of 16, 22, and 13 to end with 117 E-Rays completed.

Coming back from the weekend, plant workers on Monday kept the increased cadence going with another 21 Corvette E-Rays completed during the two shifts.

It’s only one week so far, but what a great number for those waiting for their E-Rays to be completed. We’ll be following the rest of the week’s production numbers with great interest to see if this was just a one-off or if the streak continues.

During the NCM Bash, GM presented info about the 2024s and it showed that they had 600 E-Rays as of April 1st that were either completed or in the system and scheduled for production. With dealers having an exclusive E-Ray ordering cycle just a couple of weeks ago, that should be enough orders to get us to the 1,000 units we are now anticipating for the 2024 model year.

FYI, there is still 11.5 weeks of production until we reach September 6th and the end of the ’24 model year so there’s plenty of gas in the tank, or in regard to the E-Ray, the battery is fully charged and ready for even more action!
