Last month we learned that GM would be adding new Visible Carbon Fiber Sill Plates for the Corvette Stingray and the Z06. I just happened across them as I was playing around in the Build and Buy configurator, and suddenly there they were! The sill plates feature the C8 Corvette silhouette with “CORVETTE” next to it.
Since we broke that news on April 1st (of all dates), there has been a couple of new developments with them.
The good news for E-Ray owners is that these Visible Carbon Fiber Sill Plates are now available when ordering the performance hybrid sports car. The price for the Sill Plates is $1,995 when ordered with your Corvette, and they can also be ordered through Chevrolet accessories for $2,195 per pair. The LPO code is V8X and the official GM part number is 85104768.
Follow an earlier move, GM has now restricted the ordering of the LPO Visible Carbon Fiber Sill Plates for only 3LT and 3LZ orders. The move was highlighted on Monday’s distribution updates on the 2024 Corvette Order Guide and was noted by our friends at the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com
Last month, GM modified the ordering of multiple visible carbon fiber parts by restricting them to 3LT/3LZ only across all three models. Among them are the visible carbon fiber mirror covers (LPO 5JR), visible carbon fiber engine cross brace (LPO SLN), and the Z06’s LT6 engine cover (LPO RXI). In addition to limiting those accessories, GM also raised the prices on other visible carbon fiber parts including the Stingray’s Ground Effects, High Wing, and Grille Inserts.
We doubt that limiting these sill plates to the highest trims will hurt sales. GM’s visible carbon fiber products aren’t cheap to start with, so most likely it’s the guy already ordering the 3LT/3LZ Corvette that would add these to his car. And then there is always the aftermarket.

What about the people who just want to match sill plates to the stealth interior trim? What about those who don’t want the gaudy designs GM offers (silhouette, CORVETTE lettering, etc)?
I’d love to see a sill plate grille pattern similar to the grandient of crossed flags (previously seen on OEM windows). Don’t look like anything but a mesh from a distance. Up close, it’s clearly Corvette.
2 grand for that. What a joke.
