[VIDEO] Clive the Corvette: Six Years of Adventures

Back in March I was cruising through YouTube and came across a track video with a C6 Corvette nicknamed “Clive” at the Silverstone GP. Clive the Corvette had 228K miles on the odometer and its driver was expertly working his way through traffic when he happened upon a British Racing Green Ford GT40. It took a couple of laps, but Clive was able to get around the Ford and it was fun watching the two older America cars racing at a British track. The owner of Clive saw that we had featured the video and David reached out to me to tell me that he’s working on a back story about his base C6 Corvette, and that his next adventure with the car would be a 5,000 mile trip through 8 countries to the Arctic Circle.

David’s backstory video hit the web this afternoon, and it was a very fun watch. I didn’t realize it at the time, but the C6 Corvette named Clive had spawned three children’s books by David and they are for sale at the Corvette Museum’s online store:

While living in the U.K., David became enamored with the C6 Corvette while on a US vacation and then got the idea to buy one in America and take it on a road trip across the western United States before having the car shipped to England. Once in England, the car begins its transformation into the weekend racer we saw in that first video, while David continued documenting his road trip adventures with the car in Europe and Northern Africa.

His Clive video is filled with scenes from those epic travels, and it reminds us of a travelogue, complete with snakes, camels, and getting stuck in the sand. Now, David is planning his next adventure which will take him to the Arctic Circle this summer.
