[VIDEO] Matt Farah Offers a 3-Lap Review of the 2024 Corvette E-Ray

The 2024 Corvette E-Ray is one of the vehicles being tested for Road and Track’s Performance Car of the Year and we should have the results sometime in mid-January. One of those testing the car for the magazine is Matt Farah who appears to have a taken a shine to the new performance hybrid sports car. Farah has two separate articles up on R&T this month about the new car, and in them he calls the E-Ray “the most Corvette of Corvettes.

Below is a quick excerpt from the article and then you can check out the video from his 3-lap review of the car on the track at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Willows, CA.

Matt Farah Offers a 3-Lap Review of the 2024 Corvette E-Ray

From Matt Farah via Road and Track:

I have already written, spoken, and videoed a lot about the Corvette E-Ray. And rightly so! It’s significant in a lot of ways. It’s the first hybrid Corvette, the first all-wheel-drive Corvette, and it’s the most Corvette of Corvettes. Wait, what?

Corvettes are built of an ethos: take what the fancy Europeans are doing, and democratize it. Simplify the formula until you get to a point that regular folks could possibly, one day, attain one. Sure, Corvette was late to the game when it came time to move the engine from the front to the rear-middle, but once it did, there was no ignoring the progress. The C8 Z06, last year’s Performance Car of the Year, took what was perhaps the best mid-engined Ferrari of all time, the 458 Speciale, reverse-engineered and improved it, resulting in the most American of Italian-style supercars. With the E-Ray, the Corvette team tackles what Ferrari and McLaren are doing now rather than six years ago…

  1. I watched this whole video and I just don’t care for the E-Ray’s electric motor sound. I like to hear the Corvette V8 rumble when I stomp down on the go pedal.

  2. Accounting for the big bump in weight, I wonder if adding the front drive to a ICE Corvette wouldn’t achieve the same or better acceleration.
Running in EV mode is so few miles it’s negligible.
