There are Corvettes that LOOK like vintage racers, and then there are Corvettes that are the REAL thing.
This 1957 fuel-injected Corvette is definitely the real thing, and it has a whopping 51 trophies to prove its heritage.
Now, the third owner of this speedy black beauty is offering it for sale on Craigslist out of Bemidji, Minnesota for an eye-opening asking price of $130,000.
The seller says after its glory days on the track when it was extensively road raced and drag raced in Southern California from 1957-67, the car had been sitting for many years before he bought it in Los Angeles in 2012.
The car was prepped for sale by Guldstrand Motorsports – suspension by Max Balchowski, wheels from Andy Porterfield.
The new owner will receive lots of documentation about this Corvette’s racing history, including that ton of trophies, one of them for earning the California quarter-mile state championship in 1958.
Somehow through a decade of heavy use in competition but with only 42,921 miles on the odometer, the original 283/283 horsepower fuel-injected engine is still under the hood.
The black body likewise remains in excellent condition, as does the nicely contrasting red interior that still carries reminders of its impressive past with the tach mounted on the steering wheel and a rollbar behind the seats.
Underneath, the seller says the frame is rust-free and unrestored, with the factory stenciling still intact – no big surprise since the car apparently has been out west its entire life.
The only question remaining seems to be whether it will attract a buyer at $130,000. What’s your take?
