If you ordered a 2023 Corvette with the Engine Appearance Package and didn’t receive the two carbon fiber close-out panels in addition to the wiring harness that is part of the package, you could be getting a surprise from GM. According to GM Authority, General Motors has instituted a new Customer Satisfaction Program to deal with the issue.

To be honest, the first read of this program was somewhat cryptic as the description says “The Back Body Opening Side Filler is an aesthetic component that comes in pairs, with one filler installed on each side of the vehicle.” But after careful analysis, we realized this issue was all about the Engine Appearance Package and the lack of the carbon fiber closeout plates that the issue addresses.

During the end of the 2023 Corvette model year, cars were “built-shy” meaning they didn’t quite have every customer-ordered option installed. Those cars were parked out behind the Corvette plant and as those needed parts arrived, they were added to the cars and then allowed to ship. However, we heard with the Engine Appearance Package that workers had installed just wiring harness that adds lights to the engine compartment only, and customers were charged around $100 instead of the full $995.

As for this customer satisfaction program, dealers will install the missing filler panels and the dealership service time estimated to complete the fix is approximately 18 minutes. The carbon fiber panels contain a carbon fiber pattern weave and each panel weighs under half a pound. They are secured to the engine bay frame utilizing existing hardware on the car.

The Customer Satisfaction Program has a reference number of N232428090 and is dated February 2024. The program is only for 2023 Corvette Stingray Coupes and will be in effect through March 31, 2026. According to GM Authority, General Motors has not indicated how many cars were affected by this issue.
