New See-Thru Convertible Engine Appearance Package and Stingray Wheels Announced at the NCM Bash

The NCM Bash at the National Corvette Museum is now on its second day. Today’s event was highlighted by the annual seminar offered by key members of the Corvette Team to discuss everything that has happened with the 2023 models while also giving us a preview of what’s new for the 2024 Corvettes. The conversation included a heavy dose of the performance hybrid E-Ray, but we also have some new content announced for all 2024s, many of which will fit on any 2020+ C8 Corvette.

Engine Appearance Package for Convertibles

The big news is the announcement that Chevrolet will be offering a ZZ3 Engine Appearance Package for all convertible models and that it will also be available through Chevrolet Accessories. The team said they were constantly asked about this feature, and once again, they have delivered a factory-available option for buyers.

No pricing was discussed on the cover, but the ZZ3 package will come with the see-thru panel that covers the convertible’s engine bay and your choice of the Silver or Edge Red engine covers. As they were announcing the new package inside, team members quickly installed the panel on the Cacti Green E-Ray Prototype on display.

Three New Wheels for the C8 Stingray

Not wanting the C8 Corvette Stingray’s past and future owners to be left out, the Corvette Team also announced three new wheel designs for the base-level car. The new Split Spoke Wheels come in two designs, Satin Graphite with Machined Edge (Q90) and Bright Machined (Q9Y). Also announced is an exciting new 15-spoke Bright Polished wheel (5DO) that is available through Chevrolet Accessories. No pricing was offered yet, but they should be comparable to other Stingray wheel options.

New Stripes and Stripe Design Revealed

The current full-length racing stripes for the Corvette Stingray and Z06 are undergoing a design change that, in our opinion, makes them look much cleaner. Currently, the front end of the stripe goes to the very edge of the front fascia, while on the back, that stripe continues through the CORVETTE letters to the edge of the trunk. The new design takes all the previous stripe colors and offers a tapered look that starts just in front of the Corvette Cross Flags emblem. On the rear, the stripes run over the rear spoiler and stop at the top of the third brake light. You can see the design change with the E-Ray’s Electric Blue stripe.

The stripe design is something we saw added to the E-Ray’s visualizer back in late January, and the five new stripes are all Carbon Flash with a colored accent on the stripe’s outer edge. Those accent colors are Blue, Yellow, Orange, Red, and Silver.

We’ll also be getting together all the other news and tidbits we’ve learned during the NCM Bash and will have them out as soon as we can get to it. In the meantime, we are headed back outside to check out the reactions to the newly announced Convertible engine appearance package.

  1. The engine peek-a-boo window looks homemade. I’m sure the price is really high. I bought the coupe because I liked seeing the engine, at night when I open the door the rear compartment lights up the engine. I thought it was the first time since 1963 that the coupe looked better than the convertible. As usual, the total sales numbers always run pretty close for each model.

  2. With the large price uptick already for the convertible I would hope this would be standard equipment as it is in coupe!
