[ACCIDENT] AI Offers Up a Dramatic Account of a C7 Corvette Crash in Miami

Over the years we have received emails from readers lamenting the fact that we show Corvettes in every day life. And sometimes those Corvettes come to an unfortunate end because life is messy and full of people who just may not care that much about their cars, as compared to the Corvette enthusiast with a cherry ’67 roadster in the garage who only trailers it to shows.

Writing about accidents and other news events about Corvettes is usually the most straight-forward reporting we do here, covering the five Ws and the H (Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How). We might not have all the details, but usually readers get the drift of what happened based on the article. But now artificial intelligence (AI) is being used to craft content in some places and the results are usually mixed. Just ask the writers at Sports Illustrated on how that is going. Oh, you can’t because they all got laid off for using crappy AI-generated articles.

So I came across this article from an unknown website called bnnbreaking.com about a C7 Corvette crash in Miami, and from the get-go it sounds like it was written by a Hemmingway-wannabe…with descriptions of the accident being so over the top that we knew right away it was an AI-generated article. The more I read, the more I was cracking up at the language and descriptions of the scene. I ran the content through an AI Detector called GPTZero and it scored a 97% as being generated by AI. So I thought I would share this article just for fun.

Here’s how the article opens:

In the quiet of Monday night, the thunderous silence following the screech of tires momentarily halted the usual hum of Miami’s West Sunrise Boulevard. A Chevrolet Corvette, known for its sleek design and powerful engine, met with an unfortunate fate, becoming the center of an investigation led by the Plantation Police Department. The incident, occurring in the 9400 block of this bustling street, has since woven a tapestry of cautionary tales about speed and safety.

I really like the line about “Woven a tapestry of cautionary tales,” so don’t be surprised if I steal that line as we speculate on whether or not the new ZR1 frunk will still be usuable with that air extractor built in. That description also works about content producers leaning on AI to write articles. Next up, we have a section with the subheading of “The Scene of Solitude”:

The aftermath of the crash painted a stark image against the night’s canvas. There, in the middle of the road, lay the Corvette, its journey abruptly halted. The driver’s side airbag had blossomed open, a silent testament to the impact’s force. The passenger door stood ajar, as if in a mute appeal for assistance, while fragments of what once was a symbol of automotive excellence were scattered like leaves in autumn. This vivid scene of disruption has prompted an immediate response from local authorities, with eastbound lanes from the 9500 block to Pine Island Road sealed off from the rhythm of daily life, as investigations take precedence.

Wow, I feel so bad for this Corvette due to its “journey abruptly halted” and having fragments of itself “scattered like leaves in autumn.” I bet the prompt for the story also had a minimum word count, and so AI generator tried to stretch it out like a college student desperately trying to fill the pages with meaningless jargon. Next up is the obligatory details on the crash investigation:

The Plantation Police Department has since taken the helm, delving into the intricacies of the crash. The absence of immediate details regarding potential injuries or the necessity of hospital transportation adds layers of mystery to an already complex scenario. Questions linger in the air, heavier than the night’s humidity. What sequence of events led to this single-vehicle accident? Was it a momentary lapse, a mechanical failure, or the road’s siren call that led to this outcome? These are the pieces of the puzzle that investigators are diligently working to place together, in hopes of painting a clearer picture of the events leading up to the crash.

Due to the road closure following the accident, the articles delves into that impact to the local communities “asphalt veins” which I assume the chatbot means roads:

The closure of eastbound lanes on West Sunrise Boulevard is more than a mere inconvenience; it is a ripple effect impacting daily commutes, local businesses, and the community’s heartbeat. As authorities work tirelessly at the scene, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the fragile balance between speed, safety, and the responsibility shared by all who navigate these asphalt veins. The Corvette’s fate, while unique in its details, underscores a universal narrative: the road demands respect, and its laws, both legal and natural, are paramount.

And finally, the big wrap up as police suggest taking a different route while the cleanup is being completed. Can I get another “woven tapestry” line thrown in for good measure? It’s AI, so anything and everything is possible:

As the investigation continues, the Plantation Police Department urges the public to heed road closure advisories and seek alternative routes. The story of the Corvette on West Sunrise Boulevard, while still unfolding, is a poignant chapter in Miami’s ongoing dialogue with speed, safety, and the pursuit of harmony on the road. As details emerge, the community watches, waits, and reflects on the lessons woven through the tapestry of this night’s event..

And that’s what happened to this poor C7 Corvette on a dark and not-so-stormy night in Miami. Hopefully you enjoyed the piece as much as we did. It’s a cautionary tale about relying too much on artificial intelligence and another reason why all the writers here at CorvetteBlogger are 1. Human and 2. Corvette Enthusiasts.

  1. OMG. I can’t read that fluff. There are a number of car sites that claim to report car news, end up sounding kinda like that, but with totally inaccurate information.
