[VIDEO] 2023 Corvette Z06 vs Lamborghini Huracan Evo at the Strip

Here you go, Corvette Nation! We’ve got tickets to the 18-cylinder symphony that everyone is talking about! That’s right, it is time to treat your ears to one of the most compelling straight-line battles in all of modern autodome! Our hero, the high-spinning 5.5L Z06 finds itself lined up next to the Lamborghini Huracán; one of the only other naturally aspirated, non-hybrid supercars in the world. This isn’t a run-of-the-mill V10 Lambo (if such a thing exists) either, it’s the hotted-up Evo model, and, based on subtle variations in the grille design, we’re looking at the ultra-traction-y AWD version!

Aside from having double the driven wheels and a 2020 MSRP of $331,469, that means that this particular Bull’s 5.2L is raging with 631 HP, 443 torques, and C&D acceleration times that include 60 in 2.5 seconds and a 10.4 quarter at 135 MPH. It also pushes down on the scale with 3,618 lbs.

The base aero Hypersonic Gray Z06 Convertible in the video fights in almost the exact same weight class (drop-top Zs are listed at 3,666 lbs.). It retails for around 35% of the Lambo’s asking price, but it brings more muscle into the ring with horsepower and torque ratings of 670 and 460, respectively. It sends that power solely to the rear rubber and in C&D’s lab, it reportedly rips off 2.6-second sprints to 60 on the way to a 10.5-second 1,320-foot pass at 131 MPH. This is about as evenly matched as you’re going to see!

Hit play on the 87-second clip and you’re treated to three passes from these mid-engine titans of driving pleasure. In the first run, the Italian gets the jump off the line but seems to bog down a little bit, giving the Z a chance to take a lead… man do these cars sound great together… what were we saying? Oh yeah, the Gemini Project holds on to by the slimmest of margins; stopping the clock at 10.935 vs. 10.943 – but the Huracán does trap about 5 mph higher.

When the Christmas tree goes green for a second time, the Z surprisingly cooks the AWD Bull right away, en route to its best time of the day; a 10.85 @ 124.55 MPH – simply incredible out-of-the-box performance! At 10.907 and 129.47, the Lambo can hold its head high, but the guy who spent 3x what his competitor did, can’t be feeling that great at this point in time.

The redemption round finally sees the Lamborghini get its launch right with an ET of 10.746 @ 128.96 including an inadvertent(? Or show-boaty(?)) deployment of emergency flashers down the home-stretch. The ‘Vette’s final pass of 10.85 @ 124.46 is a portrait of consistency!

Enjoy this one, friends, and be sure to turn the volume all the way up!

  1. When the current state of high tech and quality materials used in the C8 (and C7), interior and carbon fiber body, aluminum frame etc compared to the Lamborghini the 3 time higher price is all in the name.
The performance numbers are the same.
The other consideration as far as $$$ go is Lamborghini is part on the Volkswagen family of brands. My point on that is, if it were a stand alone company R&D emmision, safety and other, would add more to each car. Similare to what Chevy is able to do as part of GM. This has always been a part of what made Corvette a great value.
