[VIDEO] It’s the C8 Stingray vs the Corvette Z06 at the Drag Strip

A couple of years ago, while waiting for the appearance of the new Z06, we told you about a matchup between a C8 Stingray and a C7 Z06 at Mission Raceway Park next to the Fraser River in British Columbia, Canada.

That time, the latest-generation car wound up taking a convincing win, 11.99 seconds to 12.59 seconds, despite giving up a lot of horsepower to its big brother.

So, now that the 2023 Z06 has been on the streets for a while, how would a similar matchup between the eighth-generation siblings play out –Stingray vs. Z06?

All the action played out in a new post by the Wheels channel on YouTube, where we get to listen to the acceleration and different sounds of the Stingray’s 495-horsepower LT1 engine and the Z06’s 670-horsepower LT6 flat-plane crank engine. Which one do you prefer?

The two Corvettes first get a little warm-up action in the same video. The Z06 pounds a second-generation Camaro, 10.78 to 12.76, while the Stingray rips an orange pickup, 11.97 to 14.40.

In the title bout, as you might expect, the more powerful Corvette emerges as the winner, with the Red Mist Z06 running a time of 12.06 at 124.90 mph, but the difference wasn’t as much as you might have thought. The orange Stingray manages a 12.62 at 115.34 – only .03 of a second behind the C7 Z06 a couple of years ago.
