How’s it going, Corvette Nation? Do you remember how the 2019 ZR1 could double as a flamethrower? Man, in the words of one of our all-time favorite interviewers, Chris Farley, “that was awesome!”
Well, you’re in luck because Chevrolet is still selling ‘Vettes that make Smokey the Bear nervous. To make things even better, NASCAR Xfinity Series Chevy driver, Amplify Orange Z06 titleholder, and former D1 football player, Lieutenant Commander Jesse Iwuji stopped by the Corvette Forum to enlighten other Z-owners on exactly how to get pyrotechnics out of their cars with step-by-step instructions and a helpful video.
Now, with Jesse’s help, you can get your naturally aspirated LT6 to spew blue flames just like the supercharged, direct injected, and port injected LT5. Per his forum post, here’s the secret:
After collecting a lot of data on my C8 Z06 I have now figured out how to make it spit blue flames, stock. The formula is easy for some, but difficult for most. Some might never experience it mainly because of their life choices with the car. For everyone else, I will share the formula. This is how: DRIVE IT. Get in your C8 Z06 and DRIVE IT. When you accelerate and shift gears, it’ll shoot flames on every upshift after exhaust has gotten warmed up. But exhaust doesn’t get warm by the car being a garage queen. Get out and enjoy your God given blessing of a machine. But first, watch this video.
There you have it, folks! If you drive your C8Z long enough to get it warmed up, it’ll turn into a horizontal statue of liberty, no mods necessary! Now, who has the marshmallows?
