[VIDEO] C8 Corvette Takes on a Charger, Saleen Mustang for Quarter Mile Glory

We don’t know for sure exactly what was going on in the cockpit of this black C8 Corvette Stingray, but the driver certainly seemed to be trying his best to keep things interesting against a couple of ultimately outmatched foes.

The action went down recently at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and the Corvette manages to come up with a pair of winning hands, despite some anxious moments at the beginning of both runs.

In a matchup against a black Dodge Charger apparently outfitted with a 392 Scat Pack, the Charger is first off the line before the Corvette recovers and takes a win by a significant 12.76 to 14.66 margin.

The next battle features the same Stingray against a Ford Mustang Fox Body dressed as a classic Saleen, and some speculate that the C8 driver either fell asleep or couldn’t manage his launch control because the Ford definitely eats his lunch at the start. In the end, though, the Stingray – perhaps after playing possum at the start – bounces back to take a nice 12.67 to 13.81 victory.

  1. Saleens are a joke. Next thing they will be racing the vaunted Javelin. Get some real competition.

  2. Kinda boring, no wonder the Vette driver fell asleep at the switch. I noticed he was wearing friggen headphones!! WTF!? Probably rockin out, or he knew none of these clowns were anything to worry about lol. I have raced several of those Scat Pack Chargers and a couple of Challenger Scat Packs in my bone stock well accept the K&N filter upgrade 11′ GS Vette with a manual and blew the doors off all of them. Pretty easily too, it’s a lot of fun too. Can’t hardly get the Stang GT boys to play, never lost to any of them either. A couple of Mopar guys that I dusted told me they were not Chevy guys but DAMN that Vette is fast and damn nice. I love it:) They are usually shocked when I tell them I didn’t even take it out of Touring Mode lol.

  3. The guy seemed to get beat ‘big-time’ coming out of the box! It goes to show how that transmission got it right for the ‘light to light’ guys (which is most of them). These ‘Corvarries’ are some nice!
