[VIDEO] Huge Barn Find Reveals Over 20 Classics Including Several Corvettes

A lifetime of collecting cars has resulted in a “one-in-a-million barn find” in the south side of Birmingham, Alabama that includes several low-mileage Corvettes.

A car and body man for more than 60 to 70 years is responsible for accumulating the cars throughout his lifetime, but now that Earl Trammell passed away in 2022, his ex-wife assumed ownership of the collection and was convinced to sell the cars to GiveMeTheVin.com founder and CEO John Clay Wolfe. Wolfe will be auctioning off the collection of vintage and modern collector cars in the spring of 2024.

“This is a one-in-a-million barn find,” he said. “I buy and sell more than fifty thousand vehicles a year and hold the world record for selling 1,500 cars in one day but I’ve never accomplished anything like this. The diversity of the collection – from the brand new ZR-1 to the limited edition 35th Anniversary Corvette that still has the plastic on the interior – is sure to make car junkies salivate when these classics go on display in a few months.”

Trammell, who lived in Warrior, Alabama, collected the vehicles as assets instead of putting his money in the bank.

“These cars started accumulating through Earl Trammell’s love for cars,” explains John Hollander, Trammell’s brother-in-law. “He was a car and body man for over 60-70 years. He was in business in two separate shops in Birmingham and started collecting cars at an early age. These cars need to be out where people can see them, so I finally talked my sister (Patricia) into selling the entire inventory.”

According to his obituary, the 88-year-old Trammell was a hardworking man who at a young age quit school to work and help his family make ends meet. He had determination and the will to make a better life for himself and his future. In the early part of 1960, he rented a four-car garage from a family member and started fixing wrecked vehicles. He had a skill that was like no other. He could fix anything. He could match any paint color just by looking at it, no measuring system, just a keen eye for color. He could paint by hand a perfect pinstripe that was straight as an arrow. A few years later he loaded up his 1960 Chevrolet without a driver’s seat (he sat on a five-gallon bucket) to open his first body shop “Foreign Car Paint and Body.”

It was there that his reputation flourished, and his business grew. In the early ’80s he bought his dream building on 6th Avenue South and was there until he retired in 2020. He loved to collect cars. He was a big Corvette fan and had many of them in his collection. He loved to cut grass and loved going to the beach. Earl taught people how to “Do Better, Be Better” and pushed you because he could see your potential.

• 1976 coupe with 103 miles
• 1976 coupe with 28,000 miles
• 1997 coupe with 200 miles.
