We got a few things to unpack here regarding 2024 Corvette E-Ray allocations and their lead up to production which as far as we know is still expected to start the week of October 23rd as previously announced. Of course, a strike against BGAP or lingering issues with the supply chain could put that date in jeopardy, but that’s what it is as of now.

Dealers have been able to place initial orders for the 2024 Corvette E-Ray which goes in at 1100 status, but now some are reporting their orders are on the move. Last week we learned that Chevrolet granted some limited E-Ray allocations to dealers and these are the first E-Ray allocations we have heard of so far. The total number is unknown and as some of the national dealers only received a handful, it sounds like we are going to see a very slow ramp up for the new Performance Hybrid sports car.

Today, one of those first allocations going to a Bowling Green resident just saw his order jump to 3000 Status which was confirmed with a GM Workbench screenshot. Orders at 3000 status are “Accepted by Production Control” and it’s where things really get fun in the order status process. The buyer claims this car is for his wife (he already has a 2023 Z06/Z07), and he shared the good news on the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com this afternoon:

Learned late last night (thanks to the Chevy automated SMS chat) that my wife’s E-Ray went 3000! Reached out to Shane (since he has more direct info from the plant) and no TPW assigned yet.

Another E-Ray buyer that we know of has a PIM order which is the selectible VIN, and she is currently at 2000 status with her E-Ray order.

We do understand that there is an order cycle coming tomorrow with both E-Rays and Z06s being matched to allocations. Again, the communication from General Motors has been extremely lacking in the ordering process, so forgive me if it feels like I’m struggling a bit to make sense out of all this.

And finally, our sources at Chevy tell us that the E-Ray VIN 001 and 002 cars have also reached 3000 status. A certain Chevrolet dealer and NASCAR team owner is probably very excited to hear that news as well!
