The guys at the Bahnzai YouTube channel decided to go all out for their Gambler 500 entry, and now that the race is over, their effort is up for sale on Facebook Marketplace out of Jacksonville, Florida.

Their Gambler 500 entry started life as a rather normal looking dark red 1989 C4 Corvette coupe, but by the time they got through with it, it was a totally different story.

In case you’re not familiar with the Gambler 500, it started in 2014 and is a rally-style navigational adventure designed to have competitors use cheap vehicles to run through the country picking up trash and removed abandoned vehicles. While they’re encouraged to spend no more than $500 on their entry, that limit is not strictly enforced as witnessed by the Bahnzais.

Indeed, Bahnzai has priced their car at $7,500 firm and claim they’ve “got more than that” in parts alone, which is not hard to believe.

They’ve actually painted the car twice, first in the Gulf Oil light blue and orange color theme for the actual Gambler 500, then again in the current matte black paint afterwards.

The seller calls it a “Wasteland Style Corvette” and says it’s “completely rebuilt, seriously badass” now. “Everything new, drives like a Corvette,” he adds in the listing, maybe everything new mechanically at least.

The body obviously has been dismantled, but not so much that you can’t recognize it as a C4 still.

The car includes a drift brake, winch, anti-intrusion floor plates, flip switches for the choke and power windows, huge off-road-style tires and wheels, and an L98 350 roller SBC engine with aluminum heads and intake and a relocated radiator, along with a rebuilt Edelbrock 600cfm four-barrel carburetor.

“If you live in some dystopian wasteland or are experiencing your own mid-life apocalypse, get with me – I’ve got a car for you,” the seller says near the end of his video that details the changes as they were done to make “a truly epic off-road C4 Corvette, and a genuinely terrible Gambler 500 car, because we’re pretty much as dumb as a box of hammers.”

Check out the video and see if you agree with that assessment.
