[VIDEO] Listen to Hennessey's 0-188 MPH Run in a 2023 Corvette Z06

We’re still struggling to decide which of the cars to wear the hallowed Z06 moniker since 2015 sounds better, but thankfully, Hennessey stepped up this week with a strong argument for the current generation and its game-changing flat-plane motivator! At the Texas super-tuner, it is customary to put stock metal through its paces before developing automotive performance-enhancement pills for that specific make and model.

As part of this initial fleshing-out process, the HPE team recently ran a “Gemini” Z06 from a standstill all the way to 188 MPH in the name of science! As much as we would have loved to see the action unfold, Hennessey decided that a little visual deprivation could actually add to the auditory enjoyment of the highest-revving Corvette in history. Connect to your best Bluetooth speaker, turn it up, and get ready for your ears’ best minute, twenty of the day, while your eyes watch the numbers on the speedo jump at an alarming rate!

After catching our collective breath, the only thing we were left wondering was how exactly Hennessey thinks it can improve upon Tadge and Co.’s masterpiece? As far as we know, the LT6 ECU has yet to be cracked, so tuning isn’t going to be easy. Turbos will ruin the naturally aspirated experience and become irrelevant when the ZR1 breaks cover within the next ten months, anyway. So, what are they planning here? Guess we’re fixin’ to find out!

  1. Will the ZR1 have turbos? The engine will have to be “changed”…it is not going to simply have turbos installed if they are in the DOHC engine’s future. Doing a “E-Ray” version of the Z06 would be the simplest ZR1.

  2. rtbasey, all of the Intel available to us points to a twin-turbo DOHC rwd setup (al la McLaren 765LR) for the ZR1 and a model above that which we’re currently calling the Zora that adds the E-Ray’s e-stuff to the ZR1, making a 1,000ish HP AWD Hybrid similar to the 918 Spyder.

  3. Nice, I would think it has a higher top speed though closer to 200mph. Yes the ZR1 is supposed to have twin turbos I think, 850HP. Why not?? People turbocharge everything these days. Why would they need to change motors?????
