[VIDEO] A Standard C8 Corvette Races Hennessey's Supercharged H700 C8 Stingray

Did you really expect anything different when a stock C8 Corvette takes on a Hennessey C8 outfitted with the company’s H700 supercharger package?

After all, the Hennessey upgrade increases the horsepower of the stock C8 from 495 to a whopping 708 and the torque from 465 to 638 lb-ft.

While the new YouTube video doesn’t provide any actual numbers to compare the two cars, it does give a visual confirmation that the Hennessey is much faster.

The H700 package starts at $34,950 with just the supercharger and 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty. The price goes all the way to $49,950 with all the bells and whistles, including a high-flow centrifugal supercharger, a custom air induction system with an air-to-water intercooler, and an optional cat-back exhaust, along with a revised engine tune and a set of lightweight wheels (19s in front, 20s in the back) in three available finishes – Satin Black, Brushed Aluminum, and Graphite. Some pretty cool graphics in a choice of red, silver, white, black, or blue are also included.

John Hennessey, founder and CEO, says: “The stock C8 Corvette Stingray is an extraordinary sports car, yet Chevrolet left some V8 performance on the table. Our exciting ‘H700’ supercharger package integrates seamlessly with the 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and our exhaust upgrade sounds much more aggressive than stock. Considering that our power and torque surpass the factory Z06, the Hennessey ‘H700’ is arguably the best value high-performance supercar in the world.”

In the video, it’s pretty obvious from the get-go that the Hennessey is indeed several car lengths faster than the stock LT2 Corvette, whether from a dig or a rolling start.

Though the outcome is predictable, it’s still pretty nice to listen to that supercharger whine down the track as customers get to see with their own two eyes how much faster the H700 is.

  1. Great power, but if that unit is installed looking like a chunk of aluminum, they should work on dressing it up so it is as impressive to look at. IMHO
