When the owner of this 1972 Corvette Stingray coupe bought it more than a half-century ago, we wonder if he had any inkling he’d still own the car today.
But that’s apparently the case for this ’72 that not only still has the same owner but also retains its original 454/270 horsepower V8 engine.
But now, after such rewarding decades of enjoyment, the owner has apparently decided the time has come for him to part with this “trophy winner indeed” as it is being offered on craigslist out of the Richboro, Pennsylvania at the whopping price of $80,000.
While that may sound high to you, just imagine how hard it would be for you to find another one-owner ’72 Stingray that furthermore has been driven just 17,430 documented miles!
Indeed, this car is described as “all original” other than the tires and battery, according to the listing.
It’s one of only 2,346 Corvettes that year to be coated with Steel Cities Gray paint, with an original black interior still in nice condition. The car also left the St. Louis factory nicely optioned, with power steering, power windows, power disc brakes, air conditioning, tilt-tele steering wheel, leather seats, automatic transmission, and deluxe wheel covers (a $63.20 option) instead of the more commonly seen rally wheels.
“If you want the best of the best, this is a trophy winner indeed,” the seller boasts. “Seeing is believing.”
While the $80,000 price tag is out of my price range, I have the utmost respect for someone who can hang onto a car for that long and don’t begrudge him at least asking to be rewarded for that diligence. What about you?

It’s an auto…. but it’s nice….
Seller would get his price for sure if it was a 4 speed, but I’m betting he’ll get it anyway because it’s such a nice, well equipped, original Corvette
