Our friends at Mid America Motorworks reminded us that this Friday, June 30th is Drive Your Corvette to Work Today!
Corvette enthusiasts know that June 30th is the official birthday for the Chevrolet sports car which got its start 70 years ago. And now 70 years later, there is no better way to celebrate than driving America’s Favorite Sports Car to your work, school, or wherever the road takes you.
Mid America Motorworks’ Mike Yager came up with the idea for Driving Your Corvette to Work back in 2001 and we’ve been celebrating here at CorvetteBlogger since 2006 when it was still in its infancy. Check out this blast from the past video we did from 2007! The date became even more celebratory in 2008 after a US Congressman from Illinois named John Shimkus was able to pass House Resolution 970 which called for the national recognition of “Corvette Day” on June 30th.
The idea behind Drive Your Corvette to Work is to get as many Corvettes on the road on the Friday closest to the official birthday of June 30th. It’s a great opportunity to have fun with other Corvette owners at your work, and it’s also a way to show off your car and share your passion of Corvette with those who don’t own one.

Post to our Facebook page (Mid America Motorworks: Corvette) with the hashtag #DriveYourCorvetteToWorkDay or send us your Corvette photos directly to [email protected] and we will post them on our Facebook page! We will send the group or club with the most Corvettes a FREE package of 8 metal Corvette signs.
It’s pretty rare that Drive Your Corvette To Work Day actually falls on June 30th so get out there and celebrate 70 Years of the Corvette by driving your classic or modern day machine to work, school, or wherever the road leads!

Everyday should be Drive your Corvette day. Come on people, please get your Corvettes out of your garages and drive them like they were made to do. I encourage everyone to do a track day. The cost to track my C8 with Masstuning in the New England area is less than $300. And that includes an in-car driving instructor for the Novice class. It’s not racing, just driving on the track with other cars with similar track experiences. Go as fast or slow as you feel comfortable. Designated passing zones which require point byes by the car in front. It is so much fun!
Amen to that, Darryl D! I’ve put 110K on my impeccable C7 and am always itching to drive more. Been across the US and Canada in several directions. One of the fun things about it is when people look at it and can’t believe it has that mileage. But of course driving it is the most fun part. 🙂
