It’s the best of times and the worst of times for enthusiasts of internal combustion cars.
That was never more evident than in this recent raceway test between the 2023 Corvette Z06, which boasts the most powerful naturally aspired ICE engine ever made with its 670 horsepower, and the Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance, an electric sedan capable of 1,050 horsepower.
While both cars claim they can rip their way from 0 to 60 in identical 2.6 second times, during this particular matchup featuring Rory Reid from the AutoTrader channel on YouTube and Jesse Iwuji, a U.S. Navy officer and NASCAR driver, there is definitely a clear winner in their battle on Willow Springs International Raceway.

And if you’re cheering for the Corvette, we have some bad news for you.
The instantaneous 885 lb-ft of torque and the all-wheel drive of the Lucid makes mincemeat of our hero, the Z06, first from a dig and then from a roll.
The Z06 only redeemed itself in the braking category, stopping from 100 mph to 0 some 30 feet sooner – as well as the subjective sweet sounds of its flat-plane crank engine.
The bottom line is that chilly times seem to be lying ahead for ICE fans, at least when it comes to competing numbers-wise with EVs.

Not even going to waste my time, seems the other video of this match up went the other way. Why such a miss-match anyway?? Why does everyone run the Z against way more expensive cars with way more power? I get the idea that bang for the buck is at play here, but it gets really annoying seeing so many high dollar rigs out do the Z usually by not much. That electric thing is like a Demon, only does one thing. They don’t stop for shit and they don’t turn for shit and the Vette looks a thousand times better. It’s getting boring.
How about a 1000 mile run? That high dollar electric turd will need a charge along the way. By the time he gets going, the Corvette will be in the parking lot at the finish line. Electric cars are a joke, just wait until they need a new battery that cost about half what the whole car cost when new.
Joe Biden should give all owners of these EVs a portable generator that fits in the trunk. Also they will need a bigger tax credit as insurance companies catch on to the self combustion liability.
Totally stupid waste of time and energy! We buy cars for transportation, in all weather. All EV’s should be compared to arriving at a predetermined destination at -10 degrees Fahrenheit. This should take place from outside with a cold start, i.e., not from a warm garage with it tied to a
battery charger. The distance should be at least a 1000 mile destination! EV’s would go nowhere. EV’s my friends, are not CARS, they are just expensive toys!
