[VIDEO] The DragTimes C8 Corvette Z06 is Back for a Bout with a Tuned McLaren 600LT

Fresh off its impressive showing in a tilt with a tuned twin-turbo Ferrari 488 Pista, the stunning silver-on-red C8 Z06 of the DragTimes YouTube channel is being thrown into the ring with another blown blue chip supercar from the old world. This time around, it’s the McLaren 600LT lining up next to the flat-plane brawler from Kentucky. As shipped from England, the smallest of McLaren’s hardcore LT cars makes 592 horsepower and weighs in at an athletic 2,989 pounds.

Just like last week, though, the owner of this exotic has been dumping cash into its engine bay like he’s Johnny Tran. With a custom tune and exhaust (along with a homely set of white wheels), our host, Brooks, estimates the now-improperly named 600LT at a healthy 750 HP. His Z06 isn’t completely stock either, as it benefits from a better-breathing exhaust system, but without a tune, he’s still dealing with a significant power disadvantage in a heavier car. Still, he goes into this best-of-three series with the kind of confidence that only the Gemini Project can provide.

Pull number one is eerily reminiscent of the 488 Pista matchup. No rear-wheel-drive naturally aspirated ICE car has any right jumping off the line the way the Z does! It immediately leaves the McLaren in its aerodynamic wake, but the quarter proves to be about 200 feet too far as the Mac barnstorms the home stretch to take a 1-0 lead. We love the way Brooks is dialed in leading up to the redemption round! He absolutely nails his launch and evens up the series, as even the mighty McLaren can’t close the gap that he opens up off the tree. Unfortunately, in his quest to continually improve, he red lights round three, nullifying an otherwise stellar effort. Check out the action below, and even if you drive something with more power, tread softly if you ever find yourself at a light next to the new Z06; these things don’t mess around!
