[VIDEO] Big Game Hunting; C8 Corvette Z06 Takes on LaFerrari, 458 at the Strip

The DragTimes x C8 Z06 collaboration continues to bear fruit, and this might be the juiciest yield yet! “Ferrari” is a seemingly unrelated term that comes up in every piece of media about the hi-po version of the eighth generation of America’s Sports Car. The DT channel has physically brought the two together more than anyone else – with impressive returns – and on this instance, the C8Z is going all the way up the Prancing Horse ladder, curtsey of the TripleFCollection.

Before any white-knuckle action takes place, we are treated to a behind-the-scenes peek at the automotive assemblage in question. Upon opening the door, it is immediately clear that the so-called “Billionaire Brothers” behind the TFC aren’t messing around. Front-and-center, we see a LaFerrari on a turntable display. It is flanked by a 300SL “Gullwing,” and there’s also a Pagani Huayra in what looks like the hard-er core “Benny Caiola” specification, and a McLaren Senna in the background; and that’s just the first shot! Before heading to a separate garage to see the “daily driven” Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, the Z06, and its first competitor, the benchmark Ferrari 458 Italia Spider, engage in a quick a rev battle, and everyone wins!

Finally, just before the 5-minute mark, we are in the Z06 on the way to Triple F Raceway, and we get to see the completion of this Accelerate Yellow beast’s 500-mile break-in period; it’s officially on! The pre-revved drop-top 458 and its 562-horse 4.5L V8 are up first. With a date with the LaFa on the line, the Corvette steps up to the challenge by thoroughly putting the car that inspired it in its wake on successive attempts. Before the (upper) working-class underdog gets its shot with the $4,000,000, 950-horse successor to the F40-F50-Enzo throne, there’s a plug for MotorMatchup, a drag race simulator with more than 50,000 real models on tap. It is pretty cool, and we apologize if your day’s productivity takes a shot now that you have the link, but based on the DragTimes example, it is pretty accurate!

Post-plug, we reach 10:00, time for Rocky to jump in the ring with Apollo, and Creed’s pilot is feeling confident! Luckily, the brief clip of the Hyper-Ferrari breaking down at the onset of the video wasn’t from run one, and we get to hear that 6.5L V12 in all of its fury as it tries to reel in the unbelievably quick launching American in a best-of-three series where one of the competitors gets better for each consecutive run! Watch for yourself to find out how the Z fares, and stay tuned. We have a feeling that there’s more content to come from this particular Z06!

  1. Nothing like beating a couple of Ferrari’s and some billionaires…’til they roll out the hybrid.

  2. Wow, must be REALLY nice to have cubic money….Damn For the price I would take the Vette for sure, plus I can drive it everyday, gets good MPG and any Chevy dealer can work on it. Corvette’s are the best deal out there…..Period.

  3. Well, he should have put 1500 break-in miles on the C8 before racing it hard like that. At least that’s what Chevy recommends.
