The National Corvette Museum has an upcoming exhibit officially opening on June 30th and it’s called “An American Love Affair – 70 Years of Corvette.” To promote it, they put out a quick teaser video yesterday on their social media channels.

Normally, I wouldn’t share such a short video but this one is very personal to me as the very first image they used is of my late father with his “new” 1966 Corvette Sting Ray. I had provided them with the image last year for feature article on us which appeared in the NCM’s American Sports Car magazine and was quite surprised to see it again here.

My dad bought the car two years before I was born, and after his passing in the early 1980s, I took over the stewardship of the car in 1993. Although I have owned it now for 30 years, I will always think about it as my dad’s Corvette. He picked up the car on June 29th, 1966 and so he most likely “drove his Corvette to work” on June 30th which was the Corvette’s 14th birthday!

One other point about that photograph is that last year I bought a photo program called Topaz Gigapixel AI which uses artificial intelligence to sharpen old photos, and it works especially well on restoring sharpness to faces. So if you have a lot of old photos around the house you would like to “make new” again, that program works pretty well as you can see.

From the CorvetteMuseum via YouTube:

For 70 Years, Corvette has been the dream car of each generation. It has been the Heartbeat of America on the street and the ground-pounding sound of American thunder on the track. It is the official car of your dreams. Fall in love all over again with Corvette.
