Hey, Corvette, can you hold it down a little bit?

Because its exhaust is rated as being too loud, the mid-engine 2022 Corvette is facing a nationwide product safety recall in “The Land Down Under,” according to a notice on vehiclerecalls.gov.au.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the drive-by exhaust noise exceeds the limit defined under Australian Design Rule 83/00 (ADR 83/00),” according to the Australian Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, and the Arts.

ADR 83/00 defines the limits on external noise generated by motor vehicles, motorcycles, and mopeds in order to limit the contribution of motor traffic to community noise, the government explains.

The 106 Corvettes affected by the recall are listed by VINs on the website, with owners of affected cars instructed to visit a General Motors Australia and New Zealand Pty Ltd (GM) dealer to have the engine control module software updated, free of charge.

For more information, owners are told to contact the GMSV Communications Centre at 1-800-004-678 or by email at [email protected] or www.gmspecialtyvehicles.com.

GMSV hand-picks the most ionic vehicles in GM’s portfolio and brings them to Australia and New Zealand. Enquire …

If they think the Stingray is too loud, what will Australian officials think about the forthcoming 2023 Z06 that is even louder than the base model?
