Jordan Taylor is Going Oval Racing with the CARS Tour Pro Late Models at North Wilkesboro Speedway

We played this fun clip a couple weeks back of Jordan Taylor inquiring about another seat in a NASCAR race event as his alter ego Rodney Sandstorm let us know Jordan was wanting to do an oval race. That moment has come as Taylor will be racing in the CARS Tour’s Pro Late Model division at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Wednesday, May 17th. Jordan will making his first Pro Late Model start with E33 Motorsports.

Jordan made his NASCAR debut in March at the Circuit of the America’s road course as he subbed for the injured Chase Elliot in the No. 9 Chevrolet Chevy Camaro. Jordan qualified 4th in the race and finished in 24th place following the hectic three overtimes required to finish the race under green.

“I can’t wait for next week,” commented Taylor. “I’ve been getting to know the stock car world a bit more over the past few years being involved with different programs, but that’s all been on the road course side of things. E33 Motorsports has given me an amazing opportunity to now experience the oval side. We did a test a few weeks ago to see if I could at least drive on an oval, and I had a blast! It’s for sure a much different experience than I’m used to, but I’ve really been enjoying the new challenge. I think driving a Late Model and racing a Late Model are going to be two very different animals to tackle.”

We caught Jordan on social medial testing a white Pro Late Model. According to floracing.com, those tests happened at Ace Speedway and the Orange County Speedway near Raleigh.

Of course, Jordan being Jordan, he’s going to make the announcement in his own unique way and this video was posted to Twitter:

And of course, there’s Rodney who gets all the attention as in this announcement, and his name even ends up on the car!

“With the CARS Tour being so competitive, I’m hoping I can get out in practice and learn from some of the more experienced guys, but I can’t wait to see what oval racing is all about,” Taylor said. “It’s going to be a fun week there at North Wilkesboro, and I’m sure we’re going to have the best-looking race car out there!”

Jordan will be riding on board the No. 1 Chevrolet with a throwback paint scheme that pays homage to Rodney’s favorite NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon. The car will be sponsored by Page Construction, along with Schaeffer’s Oil, Circle Track Warehouse, Joe Crowdes Designs, and Field Pass.

“Everybody knows that North Wilkesboro is probably the biggest race on the CARS Tour schedule this year,” said team owner JR Courage. “We were given a very unique opportunity to have Jordan come drive for us at E33 Motorsports, and after testing at a couple different tracks we knew that it was the right fit and he was going to be able to bring a wealth of knowledge to our program. I’m excited to see him make his debut at North Wilkesboro in the CARS Tour next weekend.”

NASCAR racers Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kevin Harvick will also be driving the Pro Late Models at North Wilkesboro Speedway on May 17th.
