We love attending the NCM Bash not only for all the great news coming out on the next model year Corvette, but also for the thorough update the Corvette Team provides on the current model. Like previous years, Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles gave us a rundown of the production numbers, as well as the most popular colors and options for the 2023 model year.

While we post production quantities that detail the numbers of current production, the Corvette Team is able to include future orders accepted for production that are in the system, as well as those that have already been built. As of March 2023, they were showing 40,562 total C8s with the breakdown being 94% Stingray and 6% Z06. The last time we hit more than 40,000 cars produced in a model year was in 2016, and that’s when the line was running much faster than it is today. So with all the supply chain issues and other factors in play, it may not seem like it, but the production team is doing a great job in getting America’s favorite sports car in the hands of new owners.

According to slide below, Corvette Stingray production is still running around 52% Coupes vs 48% Convertibles. The most popular trim for the Stingray Coupes is the 2LT at 42% while buyers are selecting the 3LT trims overwhelingly at 55% for the convertible. Top colors for the Stingray are Torch Red, Arctic White, Black, and Red Mist. Black interiors account for over 30% of production with Adrenaline Red being second at 24%

For the Corvette Z06, the Convertilbe model is currently out-selling the Coupe by 51% to 49%. The 3LZ trim package dominates both Coupes (73%) and Convertibles (86%). The Z06’s top colors are the same as the Stingray but reshuffled with Black being the top color at 14% with Torch Red being the second most-popular color. A four-way tie comes up for third with Arctic White, Red Mist, Pearl White (70th ANniversary), and Hypersonic Gray all garnering 9% of production.

The 2023 Corvette Stingray’s options were also shown with the 70th Anniversary model making up 10% off all Stingrays. The Z51 makes up two out of three Stingrays built with 66% of buyers opting for the track-ready package. That can be further broken down with Z51 with Magnetic Ride Control being the most popular “chassis” at 38% while Non-Mag Ride Z51 is at 28%. The base FE1 chassis comes in a 25% and just 9% of base customers selecting Magnetic Ride Control. While included on Z51, the NPP Performance Exhaust is also selected by non-Z51 buyers with 87% of all Stingrays optioned with the noisemaker. Front Lift is also still in the majority with 54% of all builds.

The most popular wheels for the Stingray are the Gloss Black 20-spoke wheels (Q91) at 22% while the Carbon Flash 20-spokes (Q8Q) come in at 21%. The Silver Base wheels (Q8P) come in at 20%.

Options for the 2023 Corvette Z06 are showing 20% for the Z07 (FE7) while the base chassis is 47% and the base chassis with J57 Carbon Ceramic Brakes are at 34%. Front lift is very high with 75% of buyers selecting it. The Aero packages are 17% visible carbon fiber and 7% carbon flash.

The most popular wheels for the Z06 are the Black spider aluminum wheels (SOA) at 36%, and 16% of buyers selected the Visible Carbon Fiber Wheels.

Great experience and Shane, Becky, and especially Chris who went over all the operating procedures made it a memorable experience. Thank you all for a once in a lifetime experience!
