It should come as no surprise to readers on this site that the Chevrolet Corvette has today been crowned the “Coolest Thing Made in Kentucky.”

After all, we’ve known just how cool this car is since the very first one rolled off the assembly line back in 1953.

Now, it’s official, though, as voters helped the Corvette whip another American icon – the J.M. Smucker Company’s Jif Peanut Butter – in the finals of the first-ever Coolest Thing Made in Kentucky Tournament presented by Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance.

Corvette had advanced to the final round by dispensing of first-round foe Post-Its by 3M, second-round opponent Old Folks Country Sausage by Parnells, and semi-final challenger Big Ass Fans by Powerfoil X4.

The contest was designed to allow Kentuckians (and the rest of the world, too, via the internet) to go online and choose the 2023 Coolest Thing Made in Kentucky from among the thousands of world-class products manufactured in the state.

After five rounds of voting and more than 20,000 ballots cast, the Corvette emerged as the winner.

Congratulations to all the folks at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant, where the Corvette has been built exclusively since 1981.
