Corvettes for Sale: Grandma's 1961 Corvette Project on Bring a Trailer

If this is “Grandma’s Vette,” the old girl has a lot of work ahead of her.

This 1961 Corvette will require a lot of re-assembly to ever make it back on the road, but apparently there are some willing souls out there as the current bid on a Bring a Trailer auction has already climbed to $4,000, with six days to go. A new owner is ensured since it’s a no-reserve auction.

We love the nod to Grandma on the doors and would love to know the history behind that slogan.

The seller has owned the car since 2010 and apparently has decided to move on from this project.

The car is currently on rollers, with mismatched tires and wheels and four-wheel drum brakes, and the passenger-side front fender is being held in place by wood planks – the first time we’ve seen that done.

The new owner will receive the 283 V8 engine and three-speed manual transmission, but he’ll have to install them, along with lots of other parts.

The interior is obviously a blank slate and will need lots of work, too. The steering column and gauges have been removed, and loose wires are hanging in their former positions.

The vehicle isn’t registered now but has a clean California title in the owner’s name.

Would you be willing to tackle this non-running project car for Grandma?
