[ACCIDENT] C6 Corvette Oil Change Goes Horribly Wrong

Murphy’s Law was never more in effect than during this recent mishap at a garage.

In an Instagram video, we see a yellow C6 presumably getting an oil change when the phone rings off-camera. A mechanic walks in front of the car perhaps to answer the call when screams of “hey, hey” ring out as the Corvette’s lights activate and it begins to roll backward.

In just a few seconds, pandemonium follows as the open driver’s door manages to rip a water fountain off the wall, bending the door backwards likely past its breaking point. The Corvette then keeps rolling and smashes through the garage door, leaving it hanging loosely at the bottom and ripping the hood off the car in the process.

When all is said and done, water is gushing continuously into the sunken oil change area, the garage door is ruined, and the Corvette is badly damaged, with pieces scattered on the floor. It appears that the car finally stops rolling a few feet outside the garage, hopefully without running over someone walking past.

We don’t have any official report nor an explanation of what happened, but some surmise that the but hopefully no one was injured in the melee. Guess the garage won’t be making a profit on that oil change, huh?

Our condolences to the owner of the Corvette. Who would expect his car to be ripped apart getting a simple oil change?

  1. WOW That really SUX, this is why I don’t like going to these quick oil change establishments, especially with the C8. There were some videos of C8’s falling off lifts due to it’s 60/40 weight differential when they first hit the streets. Looks identical to the C6 I owned, couldn’t see the plates to see which state it’s from.

  2. This is a horrible prime example of why I get uptight when I have to take my cars in for service including basic oil changes. I would’ve told this shop that I’m not settling for nothing less than them giving me enough money to buy another C6 just like it.

  3. I do my own oil changes because of this. Have heard too many horror stories. The guys doing this work are typically the low man on the totem pole.
