When it comes to high-dollar collector C4 Corvettes, there just aren’t too many of them unless you are talking about ZR1s.

That’s why we can’t wait to see your comments about this base model 1994 Convertible with a jaw-dropping price tag of $49,900!

Of course, there’s a reason why the owner of this fourth-generation model wants a pretty penny – and more – for his Corvette. In fact, there’s actually 116 reasons – as in that’s how many miles it’s been driven since leaving the Bowling Green plant!

Add in the fact that it’s one of only 24 convertibles painted Copper Metallic – the color so hard to match up body panels that the GM bosses quickly pulled the plug after making only two dozen ragtops and 91 more coupes.

Then consider it was part of the Bob McDorman collection (the late Ohio dealer/enthusiast noted for his impeccable cars), and you begin to get the picture.

Based on the photos included with the Craigslist ad, this car is in amazing condition three ways from Sunday – inside, outside, and underneath.

While some might feel the car would have been more “contrasty” with a black interior, we think the Oyster seats are a good complement.

As the former owner of three C4s, including new ’86 and ’89 models, I realize firsthand that this generation isn’t the most powerful nor the most attractive, but some of my favorite memories of a lifetime after owning a baker’s dozen 13 Corvettes include those two C4s.

Still, I’d be hard-pressed to pay $50,000 for any C4, including a ZR1. How about you?

  1. McDorman had a Cooper coupe and a convertible with no miles. I actually saw this car at one of his shows and always appreciated the color. He had the best collection of GM stuff outside of GM. Wish you were still here Bob!

  2. Not quite. There were 26 convertibles (not 24) and 90 coupes. I used to have all 116 Copper VINs, other guys probably still have them. If you are using the C4 Cor-Vettes book by Antonick for the 1994 Copper production numbers, that book is incorrect. The interior color is called Light Beige (not Oyster). There were three 1994 Copper coupes with the Z07 package, VINs 00451, 00457 (with ML9 manual), and 02028. I would certainly try to buy one of those three, if one came up for sale. I too loved my C4s.

  3. I’ve owned 5 C4’s and loved them all, but I wouldn’t be willing to pay anywhere near 50 grand for any C4 out there nowadays. I wouldn’t want to drive around in a Copper C4 either. I don’t like that color at all.
