[VIDEO] Man Wins A Vintage Corvette That Looked Just Like His Father's Car

It was a bit of emotional deja vu for the winner of a vintage Corvette in a Colorado contest.

John Coppin of Colorado Springs emerged as the lucky winner of a white 1972 Corvette Stingray coupe in a contest to help car repair chain Meineke celebrate its 50th anniversary. He picked up the car earlier this month.

The real story, though, is that Coppin’s dad had ironically owned a 1971 Corvette in the same colors many years, and the father and son had bonded over that Stingray before it was eventually sold to a museum.

“I’m grateful to Meineke,” said Coppin, who is Safety and Security Director and Dean of School at New Summit Charter.

Students of New Summit Charter were on hand to watch Coppin receive his car during a Dec. 1 ceremony, and Meineke also donated $5,000 to the school.

Meineke, a joyous Coppin said, has “played a huge role in making a lifelong dream of mine come true.”

Any customer who had their vehicle serviced at Meineke during August was eligible to win the Corvette.
