[VIDEO] Bicyclist Chases Down a Ceramic Matrix Gray Z06 in Philadelphia


Corvette Forum member “ArmchairArchitect” was leaving his downtown gym last light when he came across a 2023 Corvette Z06 in Ceramic Matrix Gray traversing the narrow one-way streets in Center City Philadelphia. Like any CF member in good standing, he chased the car down and was able to capture some cell phone video from the encounter.

Here is what ArmchairArchitect said about seeing the Z06:

I was leaving my downtown gym yesterday evening around 7pm, hopped on my bike to ride home, and randomly came across this beautiful unicorn in the near distance. At first, I thought my mind was playing tricks on me when I saw the boomerang. Did a second take and thought it might be a base Stingray with styling cues to mimic/fake being a Z06. But THEN I saw the rear vent design and Michigan plates and I knew for certain.

Seeing this car in motion and in the wild was the highlight of my day. The car exudes the look of quality – it truly does look like a $200k+ supercar in person/in motion. The car is super wide and the styling is 100x better than the base Stingray, mainly due to the rear re-design. The styling is finally cohesive on this C8 model.

We couldn’t agree more with ArmchairArchitect’s assessment of the car and what fun it must have been to chase it down. Also, I got to thinking that maybe we haven’t yet seen a CMG Z06 previously but then remembered that RHD Z06 Convertible found in a parking lot that was also Ceramic Matrix Gray. However, I went through the entire C8 Z06 picture thread on the Forum and didn’t see any others posted there. So maybe the original poster is correct that this is a unicorn!


A couple of items to note include the rear exhaust which had the corner-mounted setup instead of the center-quad pipes. We can also see that the car doesn’t have a CTF sticker either so it most likely has an experimental VIN.

  3. I have a C8 and I often drive in Philadelphia and have never encountered a problem. There was a rash of car jacking this winter, but it was a group of guys doing it and they have been caught and are in custody. Stop the negative comments about Philadelphia.

  4. Thats not a Z06. thats a C8 someones tried to make look like a Z06. the exhaust note is wrong there isnt a Z06 badge on side the front end is wrong and its a tagged car and seeing how they aren’t for sale yet…..

  5. Agree w/ V Walker- stop the negative hyperbolic comments about Philadelphia. Most of the people spewing that kind of hate haven’t spent much time here, and are usually from the most banal towns…
