Back in 2014, Chevy celebrated the launch of the seventh-generation Corvette with a special Premiere Edition convertible clothed in a one-year-only color called Lime Rock Green.

Now the Lime Rock Park Historic Festival is returning the favor with a host of special activities slated this Labor Day weekend (Sept. 1-5) to help the Corvette celebrate its 70th anniversary.

“We are excited to host 12 of the most significant Corvette concept cars,” says Historic Festival Event Chairman Skip Barber, who noted the special cars will be together for the first time in history at Lime Rock Park.

“I think this one will be a truly unforgettable event,” he said. “The Corvette has been a central player not only in American motorsports but also of course internationally. Between the amazing concept cars and some rare competition Corvettes that will be here on display, this should really be something special.”

Among the dozen concept cars that will be displayed at the event will be the iconic 1959 Stingray Concept, being provided by the General Motors Heritage Center.

Lime Rock – which is celebrating 65 years of operation itself – will also welcome the Historic Trans Am class back to the park in September.

GM officials are excited about the upcoming celebration, including Vice President, GM Global Design Michael Simcoe.

“From the moment that it was first displayed in 1953 to today, the Corvette has always delivered unforgettable design,” Simcoe says. “It will be really special to have so many examples of competition, street and one-of-a-kind concept Corvettes all in one place at Lime Rock Park for the Historic Festival. Through the generations, the Corvette design has evolved, but the brand has always maintained a central role in the automotive landscape and it is fantastic to have that role celebrated at Lime Rock Park.”
