[PICS] Chevrolet Officially Introduces the 70th Anniversary Special Edition for the 2023 Corvette

Following another high-profile leak in which Corvette’s 70th Anniversary package was shown on the 2023 Corvette Visualizer last week and captured by CorvetteBlogger contributor Jeremy Welborn and his friend Jay Shellabarger, Chevrolet today officially released the details for the special edition that will be available on both the Z06 and Stingray models.

With the Corvette being the longest-running nameplate on any car on the road today, Chevrolet will celebrate the 70th anniversary in style with a special 70th Anniversary Edition Package.

“Passion for Corvette runs deep at Chevrolet and this anniversary is extra special because of the excitement and sales success we’ve achieved with the eighth generation of America’s iconic sportscar,” said Steve Majoros, vice president, Chevrolet marketing. “Even after 70 years, Corvette still makes hearts race and kids dream of the open road.”

Chevrolet is bringing two exclusive colors to the 70th Anniversary Special Edition – an all-new White Pearl Metallic Tri-Coat and Carbon Flash Metallic – along with optional stripes, exclusive wheel designs with Edge Red Stripes, Edge Red calipers, and 70th Anniversary badging on the doors as well as on the crossflag emblems. This marks the first time in modern Corvette history that Chevrolet has offered 14 exterior colors. Combined with the eight interiors for 2023, this will allow for thousands of combinations.

Inside the 70th Anniversary Corvettes are two-tone Ceramic Leather GT2 or Competition Seats, red stitching, red seatbelts, and sueded microfiber seat inserts and steering wheel. You also find 70th Anniversary Edition logos on the seats, steering wheel and sill plates. The 70th Anniversary Editions will require the 3LT or 3LZ trim packages.

Buyers of the 70th Anniversary Stingray or Z06 will also get a custom luggage set with red stitching and 70th Anniversary Edition Logos.

Even the regular 2023 Corvettes are getting in on the Anniversary celebration. All Corvettes for 2023 will feature a commemorative 70th Anniversary interior plaque located on the center speaker grille and a 70th Anniversary Edition graphic imprinted on the lower rear window.

  1. Well – it’s true, another white special anniversary edition Corvette!

Does anybody have a nice 2003 50th Anniversary Edition Convertible with hopefully a 6 speed transmission for sale?
Does anybody have a nice 1993 40th Anniversary Edition Convertible with hopefully a 6 speed transmission for sale?
Does anybody have a nice, well kept 1978 25th Anniversary Indy 500 Pace Car with again a 4 speed transmission for sale?

It is another disappointment that the Chevrolet design team can only find an internal General Motors existing color (to save a few bucks) for a very special edition anniversary Corvette, instead of looking for something special to the 2023 70th Anniversary Edition Corvette Stingray Coupe and Convertible and the Z06 Coupe and Convertible that would be an exclusive color, a new beautiful Corvette color, and a color that would look great in the next 30 years for the 100th Anniversary Celebration in Bowling Green and Nashville.

Hey Tadge, please call PPG, Axalta or House of Kolor for some new paint colors that would be available for the 2028 version of the 75th Anniversary Corvette now so they can be ready in 5 years at the Assembly Plant. Come on just pick up the phone!

Perhaps the real three – 1978, 1993 and 2003 – special edition, exclusive Anniversary Models of Corvettes will be preserved long enough to make to the year 2053 for the 100th.

Please Chevrolet listen up, get rid of all the design team right now before they start on the 75th Anniversary Edition of a new Corvette model, hopefully gasoline powered with a truly unique EXCLUSIVE color of the exterior paint and the interior leather, the engine horsepower addition, the carbon fiber wheels/brakes and hopefully then the next Anniversary Edition Corvette in 2028 will be the top seller and most unique of all Anniversary models.

Cause these guys just blew another great opportunity just like in 2013 to have a great Anniversary Corvette. Send them to the Truck Division and hire some young Hot Rodders!
Thanks for listening. Go Corvettes for all the next 5 years.
    J.T.

  2. Corvette is not the “longest-running nameplate on any car on the road today” Chevy introduced the Suburban in 1934 for the 1935 model year. It was military only during WWII and resume commercial production in 1946. Even if you account for the WWI break, 1946 is earlier than 1953.

  3. I would think that a performance improvement like Porsche does with their special editions would be better than a few extra colors and labels.

  4. GM can really make a special anniversary edition not so special. This is just GM trying to sell a sticker & decal package on a higher spec’d out car. It’s weird how the Corvette team can get things so right and then the team get it so wrong. I guess in the long run it just comes down to being lazy, no imagination, and just out for profit. I also agree 100% with Jeffery (above) and his comments.

  5. Always has to be a hater or two in the mix, but since neither of you two actually work for GM or have squat to do with the Corvette I guess we can ignore you both. Besides, they can’t build them fast enough as it is so I doubt there are any worries at Chevrolet. Oh and one other thing, get rid of the design team??? You mean the people that designed and engineered this fabulous machine? Seems like an asinine idea.

  6. Kevin William exactly, I just wish they would go away with trivial complaining. Just so played out????

  7. The 2023 Chevy Corvette 70th Anniversary Edition Is A Boomer’s Dream

You’ll soon be able to get your hands on the new — and rare — Corvette Stingray
    By Andy Kalmowitz at Jalopnik

Time to get out your crispest jorts and whitest New Balances — it’s been another five year increment since the Corvette was introduced, and it’s time to celebrate!

That’s right folks. The Corvette is turning 70, and you know what that means? Another RARE special edition. Chevy confirmed the news that a 70th Anniversary Edition package will be available on the 2023 Corvette and Corvette Z06 to celebrate the car’s run that began in 1953.

If you don’t want to pony up for the Anniversary Edition, don’t worry. Your 2023 Corvette will still come with a commemorative plaque mounted to the center speaker grill, along with a graphic on the rear window. That way every Corvette can be RARE!

But anyway — what do you get if you opt for the Anniversary Edition? Well, not much in the way of performance. As with past RARE Anniversary Editions, this Corvette will mostly bear cosmetic changes. It will come with the buyer’s choice of two unique and RARE colors, White Pearl Metallic Tri-coat or Carbon Flash Metallic. It will also be trimmed with dark wheels boasting an Edge Red Strip. If you want to make your Corvette RARE-ER, you can also opt for racing stripes that will be available in specific matching colors.

Right now, pricing for the 70th Anniversary Edition haven’t been announced, but it will surely cost a premium over normal non-RARE Corvettes.

Buyers who opt for the 70th Anniversary Edition will also get a special Corvette badge with unique (and RARE) crossflags, Edge Red brake calipers, and other body trim pieces that will be uniquely stamped to let everyone at the car show know you love to commemorate things.

Inside is where the RARE-ness really gets spicy. Cars will come with two-tone leather GT2 or Competition seats with logos on both. They’ll also feature red construct stitching throughout the cabin and suede inserts on the seats and steering wheel. And for the pièce de résistance? Red seat belts that are, of course, very RARE.

The 70th Anniversary Edition will be available on the 3LT and Z06 3LZ models and will have a matching Edge Red Engine Cover. If all of that RARE-ness isn’t quite enough for you, there is one more thing your Corvette will come with that none of the others will: A custom luggage set to match the car. Everyone at the golf resort will know you’re a high roller who loves American power.

So go ahead. Spend a little extra cash on the Corvette 70th Anniversary Edition.
Your grandkids didn’t work for their inheritance — you did.

WELL DONE ANDY, AND HE WORKS FOR JALOPNIK!
