[VIDEO] Speed Phenom Shares Behind the Scenes Look at the Z06s at Barrett-Jackson

It was a huge weekend for the Corvette Team as they assembled in Scottsdale, Arizona to witness the first retail sale of the 2023 Corvette Z06. Also in attendance on Saturday was Speed Phenom, aka Austin Everett, who captured many of the day’s events. In his latest video, he shows us some of the action with the Z06 following its sale to Rick Hendrick for $3.6 Million.

Speed spends the first part of the video by checking out the various 2023 Corvettes that were on display. Inside was the Accelerate Yellow Z07 Coupe that would cross the auction block, while outside was the Z06 display with the silver Z06 Convertible with the new Adrenaline Red dipped 3LT interior and spider wheels. He talks a lot about the Z06 he will be ordering and it appears he is stuck on colors with Amplify Orange and Accelerate Yellow being the two front runners.

Back inside the auction hall, Austin shares video showing some of the crazy hammer prices that Corvettes were receiving, and then it’s time for the main event. Austin captures Corvette Racing’s Oliver Gavin whose Ambassador status for Chevrolet means he gets to drive the car on stage! But first, it’s moved from its display location to be closer to the entrance to the auction block and the fact that the car was moved under the watchful eyes of several police officers was also interesting to see and something not shown on TV. It’s there that we begin to see members of the Corvette Engineering Team that just happened to be in the area as they have been testing the 2023 Corvettes in Arizona.

Finally, it’s auction time and Austin shows the car being moved to the center of the auction block with clips showing the bidding on the Corvette rocketing from $400K to its final sale price of $3.6 million.

Once the Z06 auction is concluded, we see the car moved to a special reception area where it’s joined with members of Barrett-Jackson, Chevrolet, and Operation Homefront who was the designated charity. Following this celebration, the car is then returned to the original display area, now showing a SOLD sticker for $3.6 Million on its windshield.

  1. The Z06 high wing produces more down force and less drag then the Z51 spoiler on the first C8s and the ISMA spec. BOP spoiler setting on the G8R GTD race car!

  2. Guess Rick had someplace more important to be than the B-J circus. Also wonder if he even personally bid on the car. My guess is the whole thing was staged.
