Rick Hendrick Wins First Retail 2023 Corvette Z06 for $3.6 Million at Barrett-Jackson

Chevrolet offered the first retail 2023 Corvette Z06 on Saturday evening at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction and it hammered sold for $3.6 million with the proceeds going to charity. The winning bidder was Chevrolet dealer and NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick who will add the VIN 001 C8 Z06 to his impressive collection of VIN 001 Corvettes.

Introducing the 2023 Corvette Z06 was Sean Finnigan of Chevrolet and Corvette Racing’s Oliver Gavin was introduced and he talked about the street car’s performance on the Nurburgring. We also caught Corvette Product Marketing Manager Harlan Charles and Vehicle Chief Engineer Josh Holder on the stage during the sale as well.

The Corvette Z06 on the Barrett-Jackson auction block was represented by an Accelerate Yellow Z06 Coupe, outfitted in the Z07 performance package that also featured the two-pedestal high wing and visible carbon fiber wheels. Knowing that Hendrick has a thing for Black Corvettes, we fully expect VIN 001 to be a Black Z07 Coupe, but who knows as the 70th Anniversary package opens up the new Carbon Flash Metallic Black for the first time since 2012.

Hendrick purchased the VIN 001 2020 Corvette Stingray for $3 million at the 2020 Scottsdale auction.

The proceeds from the sale of the 2023 Corvette Z06 benefits Operation Homefront. Brigadier General John Pray Jr. USAF (Ret) was on hand and thanked Chevrolet and Barrett-Jackson on behalf of their military families.

“We are deeply grateful to our friends at Chevrolet and Barrett-Jackson for choosing Operation Homefront as the beneficiary of this incredible auction,” said Brig. Gen. (ret.) John I. Pray Jr., president and CEO of Operation Homefront. “The proceeds from the sale of this sensational Corvette Z06 will go a long way to helping us help our military families overcome their financial hardships and have the opportunity to thrive in the communities – our communities – they’ve worked so hard to protect.”

Operation Homefront is celebrating 20 years of serving America’s military members with a host of recurring family support programs throughout the year. Chevrolet has been a sponsor since 2017.

“It’s truly a privilege to support our military members and their families through Operation Homefront,” said Steve Hill, Chevrolet vice president. “Proceeds from the first retail 2023 Corvette Z06 will benefit many U.S. military families across the country who have done so much to serve our country.”

  1. For just once I’d like to see Bill Gates or a Amazon higher up walk in there before a bidding starts on one of these special Corvettes and sit behind Mr Hendrick—- Hendrick would not win the bidding contest and would leave empty handed.

  2. Well that is one way to get around waiting on the list. I still
Have not heard a word from Ciocca Chevrolet on my Z 06 deposit. I hope Hendrick did not bump me off the line

  3. Bill you needed to follow up with them, the deposit went from 2500 to 5000 and if you did not get the additional to them you fell off the list with a refund, get on there website and email them, they will respond now, that they are not getting flooded with emails, the first day was a mess, my wife is still on the list and is like number 3000 something, its going to be a long time coming from what I can see.

  4. Also Bill they were trying to weed out the people not so serious, so as people drop out our numbers will go up, see enclosed notice from them

We received an unprecedented number of deposits for this vehicle, and it remains Ciocca Corvette’s goal to deliver as many Z06’s as possible to our ultimate Corvette enthusiasts. To identify the ultimate retail buyer and remove exporters, resellers, and brokers, we will require an additional $3,000 deposit to maintain your reservation number and to remain on the list.
This additional deposit must be received by 8 pm EST on Monday December 27th. Like the first $2,000, this deposit is also refundable, up until the time that we place your order.
If you wish to be removed from the list, please email [email protected] with your name and the address where you would like us to send your refund check.

If you should have any questions, please do not call the dealership. Simply reply to this email with your questions.

  5. Boy, did I call it or what?

I am going to make a quick dash to 2024…I have a tip that Mr Hendrick threw down 5 mil for the first Zora, but he had some competition from a YouTuber!

But, it all seriousness, the money is going to a great cause; I just wish I had that kind of cash to jump the line!
